We took the funicular up to the church.

We took the funicular up to the church. You can use a Metro/bus Navigo card to pay for the trip. It is easier than the 200+ steps. There was a long snaking queue to view the interior but it did move along fairly quickly. The interior is awesome, as you would expect from such a highly regarded place of worship.

We went about 10am and got in straight away.

We went about 10am and got in straight away. LAtr there were queues. After you have seen inside go round the outside and for 8 Euro you can walk up inside the dome- well worth it for views. This is a good spot later for sunset too

Great panoramic view but beware of pickpockets and scammers.

Great panoramic view but beware of pickpockets and scammers. There are at least three types-the ones who are trying to sell you the locks, the ones who are asking you to sign some kind of a petition(while you are taking a pan and they are emptying your pockets). The ones who are selling the bracelets.

    Beyond incredible.

Beyond incredible. A very holy place where one does not just have to stay in line and follow the paths, but can go to a pew and pray. It's architecture and placement on the hill with view of Paris is beyond outstanding.

    This church is absolutely beautiful.

This church is absolutely beautiful. Depending on the direction you are coming from, you can take stairs or you can take a lift up the hill. There are plenty of stairs so look for the lift if the stairs will be a challenge. Leave time to explore Montmarte and if you are with your significant other, definitely visit the wall of love!

    Over crowded!

Over crowded! Alongside approximatley 2.673 Million other tourists, my wife and I ascended the cobbled streets to Sacre Coeur to watch the sunset over Paris. When we got there it was full of traders selling toot to tourists, and people jostling to get a picture for 'The Gram'. Unsure if this is the same in the daytime however...
