The staff from the reception through to the restaurant and bar were all exceptionally friendly, polite, and attentive providing a genuine sense of being warmly welcomed as a guest, rather than a customer. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, food was excellent. Surrounded by tall trees and expansive grounds to wander, birds everywhere (including some fabulous and very friendly peacocks).

Dating back from the 17th-century and located a 5 minutes’ walk from Hemel Hempstead Train Station, this family-run hotel offers free parking, free Wi-Fi and an award-winning conservatory restaurant.

I was pleased to be able to book a ground floor room as my arthritic knees are not much good on stairs. (!) The room was very clean and we liked the bathroom which was quite spacious and equipped for folk such as myself with mobility problems. Both continental and cooked breakfasts were excellent. The stsaff were very helpful and friendly.

The Olde Kings Arms is an attractively restored 16th century coaching Inn, which offers comfortable air conditioned accommodation and is dog friendly in all rooms.

Brett gave us such a warm welcome as soon as we walked through the doors. My friends and I felt so well looked after throughout our stay. The room itself was great; for 3 adults in the room, it was very spacious and suited us perfectly (room 5). The beds were SO comfy! There was also a thermostat on the wall, so we were able to control the temperature in the room which was very handy. The bathroom was a good size, the shower had a great pressure to it too. The breakfast the following morning was absolutely bang on! And just what we needed for a long journey back home. The morning staff were also very friendly and accommodating. Thank you The Olde Kings Arms for looking after us so well, we hope to come again in future!

Great vegan breakfast with hash browns, avocado, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and sour dough toast. Our family room was lovely and it was split-level so we all felt we had our own space. The staff were all great. We had dinner one night too and there was a whole vegan menu. Would most definitely stay again.

A friendly welcome and cosy atmosphere await you at The Highwayman, which offers great food, wine, and value for money. The comfortable accommodation is well-located for London and Luton Airport.

The staff were so friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless clean. The food in the bar and restaurant was great good choices and having breakfast included in our stay was perfect. I couldn’t have been more happy with my stay and would certainly recommend staying here especially if you want to see London as bus services along with train and underground tubes are very frequent and very easy to find and use

The Pennyfarthing is an independent hotel in the centre of Berkhamsted, just 6 minutes’ walk from Berkhamsted Railway Station.
