Acropolis

Long before it became known as Bloomfield Falls, this magnificent waterfall was called Wujal Wujal by the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. Hire a guide and learn why these people still consider Wujal Wujal to be sacred. Or just head down with your 4x4 and a picnic hamper, and have lunch in serious style!

Go before sunset to the 6-7.30pm time slot and watch the sun go down. September is the perfect month. Wear non slip shoes. You can buy e-tickets at the bottom. If you travel on the train, take the Acropolis station. Shorter walk from there. Take water with you. Take lots of photos. This attraction is one of our world’s wonders not to be missed!! There is also a small ceremony taking the flag down before closing time.

Very expensive for something that takes 5 mins to look around. Beautiful ancient building but a bit disappointed by the lack of the usual museum things: expositions, artefacts, hey even some shelter from the sun would be great.

The apartment was comfortable and very close to the high-end restaurants of Plaka and Acropolis Museum. I recommend this property. Just a minor note the timber floor, parketry on top of the concrete floor slab, creaked, which may cause a little noise to others during the night. Other than this minor issue, I highly recommend this property when staying in the best area of Athens.

The studio apartment was as described on the website - did not require cooking facilities and there weren't any other than tea or coffee thought there was cutlery for eating. The cleanliness was excellent. It was comfortable. Arrived slightly early but didn't have pass code so the got entrance card from office 1 floor up - luckily there was someone there as text communication was slow. Excellent location just to side of Syntagma Square (close tube, Acropolis and centre Athens- all walkable)

Beautiful, modern hotel. Great location with wonderful view of the Acropolis and Athens from the rooftop. Breakfast was good with additional menu options. Koukaki is a nice area, with cool little cafes and restaurants and 10min walk to Acropolis, Museum and tourist areas downtown.

The staff and the hotel were excellent, from the friendly and helpful reception staff, the great housekeepers and the very friendly and knowledgeable barman on the roof Demetrius ( I've probably spelt that wrong), but the hotel will do well to hold on too him as he is destined for greater things. The location of the hotel is within 5 min's walk of numerous restaurant's and 20 min's walk to a lot of the historic attractions but the view of the Acropolis from the roof top bar is probably one of the best in Athens.

We were in the suite and the view of the Acropolis from the apartment balcony was worth every penny we paid. The room has a wall of patio doors so we could see the view while lying in bed. The suite also has its own private hot tub to enjoy the view from. Breakfast was across the road in the rooftop restaurant and was plentiful. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Location was pretty much in the centre of Athens, with Syntagma Square, the Acropolis and the Plaka all within a 15-minute walk.

Very nice area with lots of restaurants and cafe's nearby. Only a 10-15 min walk to city center. The apartment is very comfortable with a huge terasse from where you have a perfect view of the Acropolis. Great place for a holiday in Athens:)

10/10 for such a perfect location. Walking distance to great bars and restaurants and the Acropolis plus handy for the Metro. Supermarket just a minute walk away. Apartment was modern, comfortable, with good furnishings and decor. Would return if ever in Athens again. Attentive hosts who were in regular contact via WhatsApp to ensure our stay was good.

The place was clean, tidy and in an excellent location. Whilst the apartment was on the first floor, there is a lift saving you to carry your bags. It is a good place to stay for a couple. Easy walking distance (7 minutes) from the Athens Metro if you catch a train from the airport. A short walk 7-8 minutes to the South Entry to the Acropolis. Overall it was an very comfortable and would stay again.

Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.

If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

  • Consider visiting Athens in May or September.

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
