Beyond the inner and outer beauty of the Great Synagogue

Beyond the inner and outer beauty of the Great Synagogue Visiting it is a must for every Jew and every person who wants to get an impression of how crimes against humanity took place during the Holocaust in World War II. The Weeping Willow Monument that commemorates the names of all the murdered Jews and the graves in the garden of the synagogue that was once the ghetto of Budapest, where all the Jewish residents of the city were concentrated before they were sent to the concentration and extermination camps. Creepy, chilling and thought-provoking about the unimaginable ease of evil of people who came from an enlightened & highly educated European culture.

Beautiful, it is a unique synagogue.

Beautiful, it is a unique synagogue. Take time to see also the Jewish museum next to it. Then walk, see the old Jewish district, have lunch or dinner at one of the many small restaurants in the Gozsdu-udvar neighborhood.
