The Vatican

The world’s smallest state is also one of its most attraction-packed spots. As the center of the Catholic Church, Vatican City is full of breathtaking religious architecture and artistic treasures. Must-sees include the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica—so vast that the Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably under its dome—and the mesmerizing frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

Need to book (and remember to bring passport or driver's licence). The Sistine Chapel remains wonderful, but you may find yourself beyond caring after trekking through the endless galleries of Roman remains lifted from their original sites by past Popes.

A huge collection of just about everything - much more than Versailles or Ermitage ... But the main thing is the one that they won't let you take pictures of - in Sistine chapel Michelangelo drew God from behind - showing naked butt. Bold move - not just by Michelangelo, but also from the Church's point of view for allowing it. Opens up a whole new chapter of what Church is about ...

Impressing architecture, massive collons, even though it was crowded you dont feel it since the area is quite huge and there's no rush or any kind of panic by the visitors. People travelling there by themselves of with families, whenever tired always may have sit on the cool marble stairs and ground under the shadow of the buildings. Recommended to everyone visiting Rome.

Get a guide who doesn’t bore you to tears and also stop letting so many people in at one time. Too crowded, couldn’t see anything. Despite warnings to not use your camera in the Sistine chapel and to keep quiet, it was full of people talking loudly, taking photos and generally being pains in the ass!

This stay was in the perfect location to walk about in Rome. Between the Vatican and all of the other sites of Rome, it was truly a great location. Up on the fourth floor so we had a great view from our room. And there’s an elevator so no worries about climbing the stairs every time. Lots of little cafes and places to eat near the hotel.

I loved this hotel!! My single room was very small with a twin bed, small balcony, and a good bathroom. It was adequate and perfect. The breakfast (not included 15 euros/day) had a great selection and the best croissants I had in all of Italy. The front desk staff were responsive and lovely. The location was great: nice neighborhood away from the Rome crowds and craziness. Easy walk to a metro station and 3 stops to the Vatican. Price was incredibly reasonable for Rome. It was perfect— would recommend it without hesitation.

The apartment was absolutely perfect, with everything we (mother and two teenage children) needed for a comfortable stay in Rome. It is ideally situated, just steps from the Metro, the Vatican, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. Communication with the property office was always wonderfully prompt and helpful, which I appreciated so much. It was a lovely home base during our first significant trip to Rome, and we hope to return and stay here again!

Excellent location close to Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and major shopping. Walkable to all the sites, even the Vatican. Very comfortable room and whole hotel is spotlessly clean. The staff is very helpful too. I highly recommend this hotel. A wonderful restaurant is right around the corner, Taverna Ripetta. Also one of the oldest in Rome. You’ll need a reservation.

The room was spacious, large and very clean. There were plenty of complimentary drinks and snacks and the owner was very flexible and adaptive to my needs. It was quiet and peaceful extremely close to the Vatican, restaurants and shopping. This was my third time in Rome and I previously stayed in hotels. This was a more relaxed experience and price-worthy. Also I felt safe as it it’s exactly opposite the police station.
