Great location in the middle of a really timy village, completely surrounded by nature. The nicest host family, who made everything to make our stay comfortable. We had wonderful dinner and breakfast. Really calm and beautiful place. Beautiful clean room with hot water. We really recommend renting a bike and biking to the Ritigala mountain.

We booked 2 rooms for our family and had the most amazing time, that surpassed all expectations. The owners are the nicest people you could hope to meet, and before starting this business had spent many years managing restaurants and working in hospitality at the highest levels in Japan, London, and Doha - and it shows. This may look like a guest house but the service and food quality is very much '5-star'. The spacious, clean rooms are set within an organic orchard and gardens, attracting monkeys, peacocks, and other wildlife, which our kids loved to watch. All the food that's served is made with organic ingredients, either grown by themselves or by neighboring farmers. Even the rice was harvested from their own paddy fields. Dinner can be made on request, and was amongst the best traditional food we've had in Sri Lanka during our 3-week trip. They can also arrange tours to local attractions and taxis to your next destination, all at reasonable prices. Additionally, they arranged a safari with a very knowledgeable local guide, and even though the weather conditions were not ideal, we still saw 30+ elephants - an amazing experience!

The people at Athreya were nothing short of amazing. Shirani, Telexe and the team could no5 have been more welcoming or helpful. Such an awesome jungle experience. Great atmosphere to get away from the standard hotel experience.

Experience the Beauty of Gabaa Resort! Gabaa Resort offers a unique, immersive nature experience. The beautifully designed rooms blend seamlessly with the forest. I enjoyed the delicious rice and curry for dinner. Located in a secluded area, the resort exudes tranquility. As a solo traveler, walking the quiet, unlit path was thrilling, providing a true escape. Wildlife, including friendly geckos, added authenticity, making it feel like a jungle retreat. Nature lovers will appreciate the ambiance. The pool, occasionally visited by critters, offered a refreshing dip. Despite higher food prices due to the location, the meals were well-prepared and satisfying. Overall, Gabaa Resort is ideal for nature enthusiasts seeking a rustic and adventurous getaway.

I loved this place! I stayed for 5 days. It was clean, and the pool was great. I ate at their restaurant once, and the food was very good. I needed to work online, and they made sure I had a good internet connection. It wasn’t super strong (nowhere in Sri Lanka is), but for the country, it was quite good and sufficient for working. I also had fresh water every day and was pleasantly surprised by the hot water pressure in the shower. Even though there weren’t many mosquitoes, they still provided an anti-mosquito product, which was a nice touch. But the best part? The owners. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like family not guests .. and the food was the best we have had so far .. from the traditional sri lankan food such as curries to the spanish influenced potatas bravos.. everything is cooked fresh ..an open kitchen so you can watch or as I did .. had a morning cooking lesson to make string hoppers , coconut sambal and Dahl.. .. too good ! . The rooms are large .. plenty of storage and sockets next to bed and great hot water shower. Pool , jacuzzi and wildlife in the garden.. location is amazing ..so quiet but can walk outside and there are shops and a cultural center with local entertainment . Beautiful walk to a lake also for the sunset... we were so happy to have chosen this place . Transport to anywhere can also be provided .
