We really loved the family rooms - they were warm despite the cold temperatures. The hot water systems (i.e. the showers) were excellent. Finding the hotel and accessing the car park was also very easy. The restaurant (the spiral) also served very high quality food. The cost of the rooms was outstanding value for money.

The Powderhorn Chateau is located in Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park.

Indoor pool was amazing - heated to about 38 degrees Celsius. All the walls & ceilings of hotel were wooden, such a special feel, just like we were in a ski chalet. Hotel had a bar and restaurant on site, which was great.

The lodge had everything we need for our 2-nights stay to explore and hike nearby. Its indeed seems the hosts thought about everything. They even included some breakfast groceries which was lovely addon :) thanks very much!

The property is a dream!! Beautiful gardens, decks, streams. It is idyllic. Simon and Mazz are the most superb hosts. They are thoughtful, responsive, provide you with whatever you need The room was wonderful and comfortable with glorious views. When we had an early morning, Mazz provided us with an amazing lunch for our hike. When we arrived, we were provided with proper tea and biscuits on the deck over the stream and garden. The breakfast was excellent and deluxe. We felt so spoiled with many options and china, linens, and plenty When I lost my camera, Mazz went out of her way to help me retrieve it by calling the park office and others. Calling every possible option. Above the call of duty.. Simon has wonderful stories and they are both brilliantly funny. We felt very at home and cared for They are the kindest hosts. We look forward to staying again

The location was perfect. Walking distance to local bars and restaurants. Right at the base of the Mountain, on the edge of Native bush and DOC land. Unrestricted views of bushland and local native birds in the trees nearby.
