Too bad the city is run-down with an enormous vagrant population. Tent cities on nearly every sidewalk. Drunk/drugged staggering vagrants everywhere you turn. I enjoyed the Delta King Hotel on the river. The small cabin (room) was comfortable. The dining on board was exquisite! I highly recommend it. Staying on the restored paddle boat was the reason for stopping in Sacramento. It didn't disappoint! Old Sacramento is a lovely place to walk around in. There was free overnight parking after around 4:30-6pm, otherwise meters. There is a paddlewheeler hotel and restaurant rigth in Old Town at dock, the Delta King, with TERRIFIC mouthwatering breakfast included. Tiny cabin but no parking in the river of course. lol.
