Greeted by a great team who helped with all our questions and then there were all the special little extras like the kitchen items to rent for free for our room, the kids games and records etc. A great hotel that goes the extra mile. The staff were absolutely incredible; we had to have our bags shipped down to Osaka due to smaller stops in Tokyo and Mt Fuji (too short to be able to guarantee the bags would arrive on time) which is a crazy distance. The ladies at the Information Centre were able to explain the process for this and even drew us a map to get to the shuttle bus to the train station and encouraged us to take a jacket and do a practice walk the night before. The tour we booked was also fantastic, and the food and local beer was great too. The room was incredible; it was so affordable for the space you're given and relaxing in the onsen overlooking the ballpark was an unforgettable experience, they even have snacks and a bar! Everyone we came across was so lovely, even other people staying were interested to hear about our trip as it's not a common place to find foreigners.

Dinner and breakfast were amazing both French and Japanese. We are vegetarian so chef prepared special meals for us. The best rooms are in floors 3 and 4 where you have open view of the lake. We don’t recommend taking the deluxe rooms as there are only 2, and you might end up in the second floor with partial view of the lake.

What can I say.... this is by far the most extreme hotel I've stayed in. The service was impeccable. The moment you arrive in your car they flag you down and check you in right by the hotel. Then they proceed to unload all your luggage and carry them in for you. The hotel was mostly locals and they came to only stay for a night or two at most so they usually only came with 1 suitcase, but we arrived with 8. The staff mobilised like a well organised squad and each staff came to carry each of our bags individually. When you enter the hotel for the first time you're greeted by 6-8 staff in beautiful yukatas bowing and welcoming you. You take your shoes off at the entrance and they store it for you til you want to leave again. I literally couldn't fault anything. The food was amazing, we topped up money for whatever we could. Had teppenyaki on the first night and kaiseki on the second. The rooms are immaculate, very very very spacious and the onsen was very beautiful. You can just wake up everyday and watch the sunrise in your private balcony or onsen.

Wonderful zen feel the moment we stepped in. Personalised impeccable service. Rooms were really spacious, luxurious and come w private onsen, private jacuzzi. Besides the outstanding breakfast and dinner (we got room rates with half board), we were also continuously pampered with free drinks, fruits, snacks and food. Located just across a small road and carpark to the Lake Shikotsu Visitor’s Center and main activities hub.
Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely fantastic. The master chef, Mr, Ito was exceptional. I have traveled several countries with well-known gastronomy including France one month ago and Italy 2 weeks ago. Food at Chalet Ivy was by far the best. It should be on the Michelin star restaurant list.
We enjoyed the ski in and out, the room size was good, the onsen with the outdoor thermal pool excellent and the frequent hotel bus. A positive experience was the buffet at the Goshiki restaurant. We tried it only at our last night but the variety of dishes was fantastic and delicious. Outstanding was the sushimi dish. A compliment to the chef.
Hotel is very centrally located and service is good but a little basic at annex. Excellent onsen and breakfast buffet is outstanding , has four chefs there grilling scallops , sea snails , serves salmon fish roe and also has western style breakfast ! Also has free yakut and ice cream for guests . we would recommend this hotel as value for money
Oh my goodness this place was a dream. The staff were incredible, the food was superb and the VIEW. I was literally almost moved to tears watching the sunrise over the ocean in the open air bath. Yes, the decor is a little dated but you get a taste of luxury for half the price you would somewhere else, so I certainly didn't mind. It has a sort of old world charm a la Grand Budapest Hotel I actually quite liked. Not to mention Otaru is a beautiful town. The two days I spent here would have made the trip to Japan worth it on their own.
When came back to check in, staff already delivered our luggage to room which is a bonus service sometimes not even happen in 5 stars hotel.
The property is so well maintained even though not a new one, everything in top quality, comfortable room, enjoyable dinner & breakfast, lovely onsen, excellent service from all staff, free shuttle to and from the station, the most impressive the chef prepared a special meal for me due to health condition.
There are absolutely nothing lackful compared to any 4 or 5 stars hotels. A big thank you to Sato San who patiently guided us to all amenities.
It was more like a 5-star serviced apartment. The BEST accommodation throughout my stay in Hokkaido. Super spacious, classy interior design, clean, comfortable and with a great view of Mt Yotei. Even considering that I travelled during the shoulder season, this is hands-down the most value for money accommodation!
Forget all the 4-star or 5-star hotels, when it comes to hospitality, attention to details and exceptional service, Air Furano is in the top league. It starts with the welcome, which is not only a drink, but a pleasant talk with Rika, who runs the facility. And she helps you with everything, whether it's tips on events in the area, hints to places to explore, or shopping tips. If you are into cycling, her husband will help you organizing that. All in all exceptional, including the self-made breakfast! I definitely want to come again!
