From the shuttle at the ferry dock, reception, orientation to the Spa, cleanliness of the room and facilities, and welcoming attitudes of the staff to the actual experience of dining, lounging, walking around the facilities and use of the Onsen, we were delighted with the property. The relaxed atmosphere helped after riding the Shimanami Kaido International Cycling event.

Located in the World Heritage Miyajima Island, Iwaso features Japanese-style accommodations with beautiful surrounding views. Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and request for massages. A free shuttle is available from Miyajima Ferry Terminal, which is also a 5-minute walk away. Selected Iwaso for an authentic Japanese ryokan experience, and our expectations were exceeded. Our room was large, decorated in a traditional style, with a terrace with a view of the forest and brook. Everything was perfectly clean. Upon check-in, we have been provided with yukata which was very comfortable to wear. Both dinner and breakfast were of a traditional Japanese style and were absolutely delicious (before our arrival, Iwaso reached out to us with a query as to our dietary requirements and vegetarian options). We slept on futons on the tatami-matted floor which was very comfortable. Onsen was delightful, especially the outside one when one can look at the forest and listen to the nearby brook and crickets. Staff was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Iwaso is located conveniently for exploring Miyajima, a couple of minutes of walk from the ferry. Iwaso also operates a shuttle to the ferry which you are offered to use before checkin or upon checkout.

Bettei Fujiya features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 26 km of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and 26 km of Atomic Bomb Dome. The accommodation features a spa bath and a private open-air bath. The accommodation offers a sauna, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms.

An Asian breakfast is available at the ryokan. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The room was very clean, spacious by Japanese standards, and offered serene traditional atmosphere blended seamlessly with modern conforms. There was a terrace with a beautiful view adding on to the comfort of the room. The dinner was traditional Japanese-style and for sure it should not be missed! The multi-course kaiseki meal was beautifully presented and very delicious, including fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. The hotel's location is good for visiting the Itsukushima Torii (Water gate) as it is just one station away from it but at the same time away from the madness of the island.

At the accommodation guests are welcome to take advantage of a hot spring bath. The area is popular for skiing, and ski equipment hire is available at Megahira Onsen Quelle Yoshiwa. It was humble and comfortable. Staff incredibly helpful. Onsens clean. Dinner was out of this world!

Guests at the ryokan can enjoy an Asian breakfast. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. It was a highlight of my trip! The staff were so kind and attentive and even drove me from and to the bus station. The food was great and their gift shop was full of lovely items.

Overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, Grand Prince Hotel is located a 15-minute drive from central Hiroshima. The hotel offers 5 dining options, a outdoor pool (only summer) and hot spring baths. The hotel is featured in Michelin Green Guide Japan 2013. A free shuttle is available from Hiroshima Station, a 30-minute ride away. big rooms and spacious bathroom.

During the summer, guests can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and Beer Terrace on the Seaside Deck. Aki Grand also has a public hot spring bath and sauna. Guests can reserve a private open-air hot spring bath with Itsukushima Shrine views. Activities at the hotel include a night cruising tour of the World Heritage Sites. We booked the room with a sea view and got a good view of the Itsukushima Jinja torii on Miyajima. The room was well equipped and had yukata and other necessities provided for a great onsen experience. The public baths were good, and we also booked the private onsen for 45 minutes in the evening and got to enjoy complete privacy and comfort and a magnificent full moon over Miyajima while soaking in the natural spring water - probably the best onsen experience we've had in Japan so far! The traditional Japanese dinner was a superb nine-course affair and although breakfast was a buffet style, we still got all the traditional Japanese dishes as well. The hotel lobby, lounge, terrace and other public areas were nicely designed and all the staff were very helpful.
