I came to Tohoku for a tour of the ski resorts with my brother. We met up in Aomori and stayed at the ReLabo before heading off to Aomori Spring. We were made very welcome. The hotel is remarkably convenient and clean. The staff are super friendly. Special thanks to our concierge Alicia, who found a solution to all our problems, even those we had created (for example, warning us that we had forgotten a telephone in a restaurant in town).

With a garden, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. Guests can use the public bath, or enjoy quiet street views. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! They helped me securely store my bike and when I first got on the room they brought me a thermos with boiled water so I could have some tea immediately. The onsen itself was small but was pretty empty whenever I went, with good opening hours to suit all lifestyles.

Rooms were enormous, with open views of the beach and with a cedar bathtub fed by hot springs in the room.

The ryokan has family rooms as well as facilities for disabled guests. What a cool place! There were so many opportunities to taste the beer that was brewed locally on-site. From the drinks bar at check-in to the tasting room open all day to the all-you-can-drink plan at dinner, the hotel was really quite generous with their liquid offerings. Even non-drinkers are accommodated with plenty of alcohol-free options. We also liked that they had multiple private baths on site. The main onsen were also quite nice. The food was fantastic and the beef served at dinner was some of the best I've had.

Yuze Hotel has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kazuno, 38 km from Appi Kogen Ski Resort. This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan provides a hot spring bath and a housekeeping service. Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Awesome outdoor baths. Huge rooms. Good buffet.

Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a TV. The rooms include a private bathroom. For your comfort, you will find slippers and a hairdryer. We had an incredible stay here: the ryokan is impressive (especially the arrival with the person playing the shamisen), very beautiful, the food excellent and adaptable (we took vegetarian meals), the establishment is child-friendly (e.g. yukata at their sizes, arrival kits, high chairs and adapted cutlery), the room is magnificent and very suitable for a family. A bookable shuttle service is in place and works very well, allowing us to leave and arrive from Aizu Wakamatsu station. We also reserved the outdoor bath for private use: incredible! The staff is adorable and helpful: thank you very much!

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Guests can enjoy the on-site private dining room. Free private parking is available on site. Where to begin? The room was excellent in size and had a nice feeling to it. The onsen was close by. The staff was so kind and service minded. The whole experience with dinner and breakfast was exceptional, especially the staff member whom served us with excellent English. Just the whole experience was quite wonderful.

7.6 km from Nyuto Hot Spring in Senboku, Aoni Sanso features accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan has family rooms. The room was very comfy, as shown in the photographs. The dinner and breakfast were excellent - some of the best food we had in Japan. The private onsen was great, beautiful outlook onto the snow, water not too hot. Staff very friendly and accommodating to our very poor Japanese - google translate worked well for us all!
