We arrived by car and parked on a small street nearby (free parking). I don't know if there's public transportation to reach the historical area, because we drove there (there's a paying parking lot close to the city center). The historical area is beautiful and very easy to wander around on foot. The host provided us with free snacks and water. She was very helpful.
