This is a beautiful small cabin, set in rice fields. It was very comfortable and only a short walk from a good sized supermarket. It had everything you need to cook and have a nice meal. We were walking the Kumano Kodo, so this was a good place to stop for the night. We would have liked to stay longer, because it was a very relaxing place.

The food prepared by the host was phenomenal always. All food was procured locally and their goat cheese is absolutely delightful. After dinner, Gio recommended we take a stroll to see the stars and recommended some easy hiking paths to take in the morning after we left. The house was warm throughout despite being an old fashioned house in the mountains with no drafts. The futons unbelievably comfortable. I got to play with goats in the morning so that's always a good day in my book.

Very homely feeling during our stay in Hongu. Mandy not only made us feel welcome but looked after and took us around as if we were family. She also went out of her way to organise a taxi to find us when we got lost during our hike - without her I am not sure what would've happened. Both home prepped meals were amazing, and the acupuncture service was extremely professional. We really enjoyed this authentic Japanese homestay experience and hope to be back soon!

All is cleaned and organized, we can easily spend few days with family and/or friends. Even have an outside balcony, garden side, both levels. Rooms are on the garden side, not on street side, so it is quite to sleep well.

    We were given free parking that was provided behind the accommodation. The area was clean and showers were fantastic. Bed was very comfortable and firm. Was very handy to have a washing machine and dryer to use (only a few hundred yen to be paid to the staff). The location is great. Right next to the train station and the information centre where you can hire e-bikes for the day!

    The guesthouse is situated up the mountain with a superb view of the valley, with orange trees dotting the hillsides. The car parking lot is right in front of the guesthouse so it's mighty convenient.

    The host is flexible and helpful, and very nice to chat with. The house is very clean and safe, and we felt very comfortable staying here. What we liked the most are the parking spot in front of the house and the brand new shower. We will definitely stay with them again next time we are in the area.
