The staff was terrific, both in the hotel and restaurant, and did everything possible to make us feel like honored guests. An extra touch was free coffee/tea/snacks/ice cream and as much bottled water as we wanted. One of our favorite hotels on our 3-month trip.

Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). It has a beautiful Japanese garden and a large living room, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our friendly mascot cat will welcome you! miku the cat! haha but really, the tatami room was lovely.

It was such a joy to meet such warm and welcoming people who grew up in the area. Breakfast was another unforgettable moment — prepared by the in-house chef, it felt like a fine dining experience served in the most beautiful room. Overall, an outstanding stay. Inside the station, spacious, well laid out and newly decorated corner room with great view. Staff were very friendly, helpful, fluent in English. LOVED the non-slip tub and support bars having had recent leg surgery. Huge tv, lots of nearby restaurants

Bathrooms were shared but were extremely clean and felt private (full cabins for toilets and showers).

We booked two rooms for our family of four. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious they were, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The host was incredibly kind, he suggested the best places to eat and buy locally produced lemon pastries, and when we were leaving, he brought his cat, Tiger, and waved goodbye to us. As we were on a three-day bike trip and only had our small backpacks with us, we loved the fact that everything was provided: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, tooth brushes, toothpaste, mouth wash, etc. In each room there were even a couple of bottles of water and everything for making tea and coffee. In the common spaces there was a microwave, guidebooks, manga books, and a wall full of Toso Maps of the Shimanami Kaido trail. We will definitely book Bed&Cafe Onzo again next time we bike the Shimanami Kaido!
