Hosts are very helpful but not intrusive and speak very good English (and some German) and have a great sense of humor. Some power outrages (normal in Sri Lanka) but they have a generator so no problem. The outdoor pool with the jacuzzi is almost ready :)

Leels Cottage absolutely exceeded our expectations, the cottage really is a luscious private haven and I wouldn’t change a thing. The room is so stylish and the photos don’t do it justice. The safari was absolutely amazing and Leel pulled over a couple of times to collect litter, one piece would have been particularly harmful to the wildlife, which shows his care and commitment to his job and the animals. Leel always maintained a very respectful distance to animals, which worked very much in our favour as one elephant approached us and grazed a metre from the truck. The safari breakfast made by Leel’s wonderful mum and wife was incredible, they really know how to do a picnic breakfast. The dinner we had at Leels was perfect, we could not be more impressed. 10/10 stay

Located 14 km from Udawalawe National Park, EdenHaven Cottage offers air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace. With garden views, this accommodation provides a patio. EdenHaven cottage is most definitely a garden of Eden and a Haven from the rat race. the cottages are both modern and traditional with striking little artisan touches. the shower room is beautifully appointed. the outdoor private veranda was most relaxing, the lighting, natural teak wood floors and furniture are all the inspiration and imagination of a most hospitable and charming young man Anju. he couldn’t have arranged and done more for my husband and I. our breakfast, evening meals were varied, tasty and juicy. waking up to and settling into the evenings were harmonious, the garden produced the sounds of nature that send you to sleep and invite a new day. i can’t say enough about this open , warm, genuine family hospitality. i didn’t want you to leave. last but not least. my husband, Anju and his safari colleague Lasindu arranged to have my 61st birthday breakfast within the safari on top of a plateau overlooking the national park. cake , presents and a wonderful rendition of happy birthday could be heard by the whole national park… tearful and most privileged to have such attention to genuine detail. Anju and Lasindu and ian of course. thank you from the bottom of my heart for one of thee most memorable experiences.

He built all these houses by himself and tried his best to make you comfortable. Welcome fresh juice on arrival. The house is simple but made with care and the bed was huge and comfortable. The dinner was delicious. Also we suggest to book a safari with the owner.

As we really wanted to see wild elephants, we made a stop in Udawalawe, but spotting them wasn't our biggest suprise here. We stayed at the Amba Kola hotel and this was just the most wonderful experience. The kindest owners truely, the nicest room, a brand new and well kept pool, the most delicious food from the entire trip, and playful dogs amongst which the two most adorable puppies  🐶 As mentionned, the food was incredible and we had the chance to take part in the preparation by doing the cooking class with the owner. Something you should really try after a morning safari.  Janik is also so kind, ready to help you with anything, answer any question. He will make everything in his power to make you feel like the most valuable guest on the planet. If you are passing by, really we can't recommend it enough 😍 (we thought the 10 on booking was impossible. Well we thought wrong)

The pool was the most clean and nicest we have been in. It was very peaceful. The rooms were very modern and clean. They were very attentive and able to make changes to meals for dietary reasons. Would recommend 10/10.
