The hotel is a modern 7 storey structure with views over the north and west of the city. Built in a traditional style, it is a family run business located on a quiet lane west of the busy Thamel tourist area. We spent a week there, with no particular itinerary, just walking, browsing and eating at backstreet nepalese, indian and chinese restaurants (which were all good, the chinese in particular providing a wide choice of regional foods from Tianjin, Shanghai and Lang Zhou). We found it a perfect place to use as a base for shopping in the nearby market streets and for walking out across the city to the Monkey temple, Kathmandu and Patan Durbars. The breakfast was really good with a choice of cooked and continental, massala chai, proper espresso-machine Americano coffee and eggs to order. The owners, Mina and Dolakh, are friendly and attentive, the rooms are clean and spacious, the roof terrace was a delight.

This area is a dream for backpackers, with its charming streets, hidden gems, and rooftop restaurants offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. One of the highlights of our trip was a Himalayan exploration tour that the hotel staff arranged for us. The price was reasonable, and we spent a whole day hiking in the hills, getting closer to the majestic mountains we had longed to see. It was exactly what we were looking for, and we truly appreciated how effortlessly they helped make it happen. Everything about our stay was wonderful, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Établissement très bien tenu, personnel professionnel et très serviable. Les chambres sont parfaitement amenées et bien décorées. Le restaurant de l’hôtel est de très bonne qualité. Et n’oubliez pas de monter au dernier niveau pour admirer de la terrasse de tout de l’hôtel les plus beaux hauts sommets enneigés de l’Himalaya.
