Staying at the hotel is not just functional or practical - it becomes part of the experience of being on holiday in Detroit. It is the kind of builing you'd want to visit or wander around in when exploring the city, so being able to stay there overnight as part of a city trip is just fantastic. And as a hotel it is top notch. The corner room I had was massive, with high ceilings, and very luxurious. Given that still larger rooms are available., I suspect it would be a great hotel for a family stay. The room was also very quiet - you see the city but do not hear it at all. Check in and check out were a breeze. It is centrally located and close to public transport, so perfect as a base to explore the city.

Beautiful Room and hotel. Very Clean and the staff was excellent and friendly. Liked the room set up and coffee in room. The bed slept wonderful and I have heard so many positive comments about the roof top restaurant and bar that I will be back to experience it.

We did not stay for breakfast. We left very early for an appointment and the manager eagerly went to get us some freshly made coffee to go. The restaurant had a nice bar and we we able to go for drinks the evening that we checked in and we enjoyed their cocktail menu.

    Everything was excellent in this very unique hotel that seems to want to go the extra mile in some new and creative ways. Sadly, Shinola Detroit is beyond dog friendly and the dog on our hall barked with fervor all through the day, then through the night, and then woke us up at 6:00am. We have a delightful Labradoodle, get dogs and understand a little barking, but we also recognize their capabilities towards humans and other dogs, and know when to leave them home.
