A very charming old fashioned cottage. It's all redone on the inside and outside, while attention was made to preserving historic features. Very private setting with partial view to the ocean. Away from the touristy centre, yet within a walking distance to the restaurants, either along the road next to the shore or via a beach walk. The cottage had everything one would need, cooking facilities, compact cappucino maker, heating, Netflix, outdoor private sitting areas, well maintained garden, even a washing machine. We didn't meet the hosts in person but they were very responsive to our queries and returned the calls immediately. It's wonderful that the owners welcome pet dogs and provide even water/food bowls and dog toys. The holiday home oozes with charm.

Set in Owaka, Mohua Park - Catlins Eco Accommodation features accommodation with seating area. There is a private entrance at the chalet for the convenience of those who stay. The chalet offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Our cabin, Kaku, surrounded by trees and birdlife, overlooked rolling green fields dotted with sheep and the surrounding hills. It was so peaceful. Within 2 minutes walk were magical forest paths lined with magnificent tree ferns, crown ferns and undisturbed vegetation. The cabin was beautifully decorated, and contained books on the area, games, a well equipped small kitchen with a barbecue on the balcony. The old house on the estate was built in the 1920s and creates a feeling of timelessness. The owners helpfully supplied local history and tourist information and were so welcoming. We would have happily stayed longer in this unique oasis of tranquility and nature and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates these special qualities.

Guests can enjoy a meal on an outdoor dining area while overlooking the river views. The accommodation is non-smoking. I absolutely loved my stay here! The cabin includes a well-equipped kitchen and a clean & modern bathroom. There are also a lot of windows, so it was bright, welcoming, and comfortable inside. I also loved that there were heated blankets provided for the bed and a small space heater which helped keep me warm at night. There even was a small table with chairs on the porch, so one could have eaten outside (it was still a bit too cold outside for me to do that). You can also see the sheep from your windows :) Location-wise this cabin worked perfectly for me since I could easily do day trips exploring the Catlins as I was able to reach both Curio Bay and Nugget Point in a reasonable time. My last highlight was Mindy, the friendly dog, who would greet me sometimes and ask for belly rubs :)
