The Hotel Rio is one of the most beautiful places I stayed in my live, Walter was super helpful with everything, he helped us to organize some tours like a walk in the jungle/ el bejuco waterfall, rafting on the Cangrejal river (for both tours we had the same guide Ozny, he was exceptional with all the information he gave us, super interesting). The hotel is just perfect, the decoration of the place, the big space we had for ourselves, the views from it were magnificent with the Pico bonito mountain. A really good place to stay a full weekend, if I go back I would for sure stay there again.

This place is probably one of my best stays I have ever had. We expected rough conditions in the jungle, but this place has everything or actually much more than you need. The views are incredible! The activities are amazing and well arranged by the lodge (hiking and rafting). The food is the best, and for a very good price! For some reason some reviews talk about high prices, but compared to other places in Central America they are very affordable, especially if you take into account that this place is very secluded in nature. They even have fast WiFi! The best things about the place are definitely the home parrot and the natural swimming pools. You can do some cliff jumping at any moment! Another thing: book the hiking tour with their guide. The tour is not cheap, especially if you see that you can do the hike on your own for a small fee. But this is not the same hike, with the guide we did a much nicer hike with some real jungle experiences and much better views on the waterfall! Could recommend it!

A good (warm!) shower is nice, a firm and clean bed feels good, but it’s the people and the food that make a place! Karen, the owner, is a fantastic and relaxt host. Even her dog (Dex) goes out of his way to guide you on a walk through the NP. We loved our stay and definitely recommend it.
