We had a beautiful stay at Amba Kola, a slice of paradise in the Udawalawa jungle. We originally booked for 1 night but as soon as we arrived we were so warmly welcomed and loved the look and feel so much that we extended our stay. Janik and his family were incredible hosts, they treated us like family. Amba Kola is perfectly located on the edge of the National Park, which made it super easy to access safari tours. Tours are available to book onsite with their recommended tour guide, who we found to be so helpful, spoke very good English, and was amazing at spotting all of the wildlife on safari and relaying information. We saw many elephants as well as peacocks, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, iguanas, and so many different species of birdlife. Our room at Amba Kola was very relaxing and comfortable, we really loved the extra touch of an outdoor shower. We had the best food of our whole trip during our stay here, it truly was amazing. Janik’s mother, Mama Swarna, makes beautiful authentic home cooked meals, made from home grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients, and served with love. We have not stoped raving about it yet! Mama Swarna is a top rated cook and also offers traditional cooking classes. Janik, Greshan, and Sanju were so warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Some of the most generous and happiest people we have met. They went out of their way to show us many of the local sights, and were always checking in on us with a smile to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved spending time petting and playing with their lovely dogs and cats, chilling in the beautiful garden, and enjoying a cool beer of an afternoon while playing a game of chess before dinner. We would not change a thing about our stay, every aspect was tastefully thought out and we enjoyed every moment, but the thing that really stood out and made our experience so special was being treated as part of this beautiful family.

Our stay at Elephant Safari Lodge in Udawalawe was truly unforgettable! Isuru is an incredible host who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and at home. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, and the lodge itself was surrounded by beautiful flowers and breathtaking natural scenery. We enjoyed a wonderful safari experience, where we saw elephants, peacocks, deer and even a hyena in their natural habitat. The jungle mountains created a stunning backdrop for our adventure. After an exciting day, Isuru served us delicious home-cooked meals that we absolutely loved! This location is perfect for exploring Udawalawe National Park, and the peaceful atmosphere made our stay relaxing and memorable. This is the epitome of true Sri Lankan hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Udawalawe!

The entire place was idyllic. Just off away from the hustle and bustle. The setting is in paddy fields down a dirt track. So, so cool! The manager on sight was extremely helpful and got us a tuktuk and drove with his bike down the track as our car couldn't make it and got us cold fresh juice on arrival. The owner was very helpful via WhatsApp. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our experience. Thank you to the team.

A sweet and lovely place to stay. Amazing woodwork combined with creativity makes it a place you want to stay. Some things are still in progress (new rooms), but when finished it will be an overall amazing hotel. Accommodation was generous and all facilities very clean. The staff and manager where very friendly and helpful in any way. Thanks to the team! 😃 Pool Billard table (very nice idea) and lounge area was very cool and wie liked the aquariums. You can have a proper drink at the bar as well. 😁

Very welcoming and attentive staff. Breakfast was plenty and delicious. We booked a great Safari through Ele Camp! The Family room (free upgrade :)) was spacious and super comfortable.

Eveything was perfect ! staff is amazingly nice and Udawalawe is just near the hotel.

Clean and big room with a good bed and air conditioning. The hosts were really friendly. A good breakfast and a swimming pool are pluses. A great base for a safari
