Mondsee is a very pleasant area - very pleasant lakeside gardens and facilities. We were particularly impressed by the Post Shuttle Bus facility which was great for visitors without their own car facilities. If you are without a vehicle and dependent of a public transport, you are in for some massive dissapointments. There are zero public transportation available on weekends and the cab costs 45 Euros to pick you from the nearest railway station ( 6 km), to the hotel. This one was a deal breaker for us.
