Having traveled extensively, I've found that few places captivate me like Budapest. It's easily one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. I keep coming back for its warm, welcoming people, its infectious energy, and a food and drink scene that seems to have something new to discover every time. The city offers an incredible mix of experiences—you can spend your days soaking in the historic thermal baths and your nights exploring the unique ruin bars. And the best part? The breathtaking architecture, from the intricate Parliament Building to the ancient Buda Castle, is a feast for the eyes that you could never get tired of.Guest review bySmokeyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It is a city with very rich history and old parts with good traditional restaurants, but at the same time it is a modern city with buildings that sometimes seemed as if I was in Dubai. You can walk in the city, in the parks or by the Danube all the way to Zemun. Nightlife is very rich, especially for the young, and you can find all kinds of clubs and music to your liking. In the summer you can bathe in the Danube at the famous river beaches. For those who have never been, it is worth visiting (and I always gladly return).Guest review byMarinaCroatia - 8.0

Linz is an industrial and admin centre on the (definitely not blue) Danube river . Small airport with (as at July 2025) 2 flights a week from London STN. Pedestrianised town centre with a mix of old and new architecture gives no clue that the pleasant clean town has an active steel works. No special tourist draw but a reasonable base for touring and onward travel, Large Danube cruise ships stop at Linz but most passengers are sent to Salzburg by coach and make minimal contribution to the Linz economy.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Public smoking is very off putting and makes outdoor seating challenging. Enjoyed the climb to the Veste Oberhaus and visiting Old Town; many shops closed on Sundays. Lovely colorful buildings and friendly people.Guest review byJulie - 8.0

It's a nice city, but unfortunately almost every adult smokes and most cafes don't enforce a non-smoking policy. I unfortunately stayed in the centre of Stari Grad where all the loud bars and clubs are and there is no real legal policy on noise pollution. I honestly don't know how people live here full time. Due to this, I had to stay in a lot of other places on the weekends (+ I also visited Belgrade on occassion). This meant I could (hopefully) get some quality sleep. But having said this, I didn't get to fully explore the city and all it has to offer but the main area of Stari Grad is very nice culturally and a nice place to walk. I also think the river should be more accessible with nice paths alongside it. It's either a main stretch of busy road or once you hit a certain place it's blocked off and you have to pay the beach venue to access it which is a shame.Guest review byTomUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Very nice town with everything for a pleasant stay.
Very nice town with everything for a pleasant stay. The river, the old town, the hill with the vineyards, the boats through the Wahau valley. The bike routs. All these are worth trying. There are enough and different restaurants for every taste. We were there to try local food and wine and we were not disappointed. We cycled to Spitz with our 8 year old son, had lunch and took a boat back - really exciting for the boy.Guest review byboyanBulgaria - 10.0

Galati was special, two days was a bit short.
Galati was special, two days was a bit short. - We took an early morning ferry over the Danube and back as foot passengers before breakfast. Fabulous sunrise, nice adventure. - Evening walk along the Faleza with beautiful impressing sculptures from the seventies. - Recommend restaurant Blue Acqua, good athmosphere and delicious fish dishes. Vegetarian options too. 20 minutes walk from the hotel along the Faleza. - We went sightseeing some fascinating abandoned steel industry areas.Guest review byAgnesRomania - 10.0

Nice to walk around by the riversides and within the city. Restaurant "Mahlzeit in Melk" has friendly staff, worth to sit in if hungry. House on the rock is an interesting house, worth to wander and wonder it around.Guest review byGáborHungary - 10.0

Esztergom is a beautiful historical town. People are friendly here, as in most of Hungary. Excellent shopping and dining options. Sometimes there is a problem with parking down in the city. Very good parking options around the basilica.Guest review byPetrCzech Republic
