I had a constant smile on my face and that is particularly due to the incredible staff. Both in Tradition Julen and Hotel Alpenhof (which has a spa you cannot miss out on). The location is close to the town center and there is a shuttle to/from the train station + sister hotel. The restaurant is phenomenal as well as the breakfast. So many little details that made this a truly unique experience like offering me a discount and a drink voucher when I extended my stay, giving tips about getting around the mountain, and somehow always finding chocolate in my room (sometimes even hand-delivered). And of course the view of the Matterhorn is unbeatable. I was able to watch both sunrise and sunset during my stay without any hassle having to find a viewpoint that requires efforts. The staff is amazing. I felt very welcome and was made at home. The facility includes both breakfast and dinner which I found very convenient and loving - since it’s up in the mountain, if these meals weren’t available or demanded a cost it’d feel quite unloving. Make sure you check the timetable to plan for your trips. The exterior looks like a wooden mountain lodge, which is well suited to the Swiss Alps, but when you enter the room, you can see that it is a sturdy construction using very high-quality wood. Although you can't see it, I think the framework that supports the entire load is made of reinforced concrete. It feels that stable. We had already been up four mountain peaks in Switzerland so we were more interested in the area than going up another peak. Our experience of Blatten was amazing! We were blown out by this little gem! We went up the cable car, had some drinks, came down and some more by the restaurant across the street. Great little village with no cars, only small electric vehicles. Great food, good shopping and stunning views of then Matterhorn. Nice to walk the streets with no worry of traffic. There was a small group of older local musicians dressed in traditional clothing who played at a location and then moved on to another location to play. Great option for being affordable if wanting to visit Zermatt. A trains runs between the two cities every 20 minutes which makes travel easy. Not much in Täsch in terms of shopping/restaurants so keep that in mind before leaving Zermatt.Guest review byReesha - 8.0

Unfortunately there was heavy cloud cover the two days I was there and didn’t see the Matterhorn at all. Web cams at top showed nothing so didn’t go up. Gornergrat trip was worthwhile and good views of everything except the Matterhorn.i enjoyed walking round the old town.
