It’s a very conveniently located hotel near the Beixinjing station on Line 2 of Shanghai Metro. You can hop onto it from either Pudong or Hongqiao airports. It’s a great property where evening strolls can be taken and also some nice restaurants within walkable distance. Staff are extremely responsive. Mr. Johnson was especially very proactive. He takes personal care of guests giving them some insights about the city and also the facilities. I will be back in Shanghai and will definitely be staying here.

From the hotel decor, to the size of the room, to the room decoration itself, the level of staff professionalism (all staff: porters, housekeepers, reception, waiters/waitresses). It would be better if the location was more convenient, but it's a bit far from the subway station. It takes a long walk to get out of the subway station because we have suitcases. The room was large and spacious, very nice, very romantic, and very retro. It's very cost-effective.

    Arrived from Beijing where the are many cultural landmarks to see, which made Shanghai feel a bit flat. The skyscrapers and all the lights are incredibly impressive, but I didn't feel as though there was much to do besides shopping and eating. The view from the Bund is great, but the view from the Pudong side is also nice, especially at night. The metro system really makes it easy to get around the city. There are plenty affordable Michelin star restaurants which offer local food.

    The building was very old and poorly maintained.

    The building was very old and poorly maintained. The appearance of the elevators was terrible, and I felt embarrassed in front of my guests. The breakfast was average, and the refills were not done on time. The English proficiency of the hotel staff was very poor and unacceptable. They only accepted Chinese banknotes for the deposit!!! Overall, the hotel was in very poor condition, and this was the last time I booked this hotel. Thank you.
