We stayed for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon trip to Cartagena. The location, pool, rooms were so beautiful. The staff every single one of them was amazing so friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. In particular we would like to thank Jorge Luis luna, Samantha at reception and Yao for being so helpful and accommodating, and lovely people. The staff speak good English and mentioned they are all getting English lessons which is fantastic. The food is 10/10 we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here each day and the food was just so beautiful. It is a little more expensive but you do not mind spending this money when the food is of that quality. They organise some events on some evenings like cocktail making classes, wine tasting, pizza nights. You have the option to choose to avail of this..there is no pressure if you choose not to. At the weekend during the day it is a little more lively but it's fine and we'll managed. Then by 5pm it gets quieter and becomes really peaceful.. They went they extra mile and offered us complimentary glasses of champagne, cocktails as it was our honeymoon. The extra touches of welcome cocktail, turn down service with gifts for guests was also amazing. Set right at the entrance into the ocean, you can jump into the warm turquoise water all day long, or simply lie on the comfy beds provided. Although there isn't much marine life around the hotel, the staff can arrange for you a visit to the Oceanarium, where you can swim with multitudes of fish or dolphins. The staff at the hotel are very nice and go out of their way to help you. Apart from the Oceanarium, there are other activities that they can arrange for you - snorkeling, kayaking, visit to a site with bioluminescent algae, and others. The hotel also offers transportation service with a private boat so you can reach nearby tourist attraction( just ask and they will take you anywhere). The staff is very attentive. Thanks to Ingrid and her great team. We recommend doing many tours by the hotel: bike tour, plankton usw. There is also a diving center on site. Everything was great organized, from the boat ride in Cartagena over welcome and all the meals. They also work together with the local community. And I really loved it that they don’t play music. Probably the best fish I ever had or just delicious coconut rice, delicious salad and potatoes. Also loved the simple pasta that was offered as an alternative. I think people should give the hostess more grace. A lot of the rudeness that people attest her probably comes from misunderstandings, as she is not really fluent in English, which you can‘t expect in a foreign country. You can’t beat the price & the beach is beautiful. The people were great & friendly. However I would bring mosquito spray & ear plugs bc if you get the room next to a generator it will drive you crazy. The best room is with the balcony so you could enjoy the sound of the waves & beautiful view, it’s definitely worth the extra money. Food & drinks were good. The staff, location and room were excellent. Staff went out of the way to help and guide. We booked a car through the hotel for pickup and drop off to Cartagena and the car service (Carlos the driver was awesome and very helpful and punctual). We had a medical emergency and the staff were super helpful to guide and help arrange transportation to the nearest city. Highly recommend. Water pressure at the hotel at times can be an issue (beyond the control of the property), which is to be expected. Keep in mind that not all hotels have beaches, even though they do have access to the sea. Also remember that walking from one place of the island to another is not possible due to the mangrove, so most of the time you will need to take a boat, which usually is provided by the hotel at a cost. This is a place to relax under the sun, swim in the sea, eat delicious food, and do some low intensity activities like paddle board or snorkeling. Sunsets are amazing. The sea is BLUE blue, and the reef is a swim away to explore. Very small island, to explore through day and night nature activities. Bring nug spray and bug bite gel. Baru is not a lonely remote place where you will enjoy peace and quiet. Hotels and lodges are literally next to each other. There are many people. When swimming, be careful of boats and jet skis that drive here and there very close to the shore. But the sun and the sea make all that unimportant. Tierra Bomba was a short 10-minute boat ride from Cartegena. It was situated on a long private beach with plenty of daybeds to choose from. The rooms were spacious and close to the pool/beach/restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious. On our final night, we upgraded to the Private Villa with a Private pool and it was WELL WORTH IT!
