Our plan was to stay in Berlin for three nights to visit Christmas markets, eat and sleep. The trip was a great success! The hotel is within walking distance from the Berlin zoo train station, where you can take a train to and from the airport. It is also close to Breitscheidplatz (which has a lovely christmas market this time of year) and lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. We used a hop on /off bus for our trip, to see as much of the city as we could. There is a stop right by the hotel! There is also a little lobby shop where you can buy toothbrushes, soda and candy. We think this hotel has the best breakfast buffet we have ever seen, so much to choose from and everything looked amazing. We also felt such warmth from the staff, it seemed like they all love working there. Even the chefs at the breakfast buffet said hello and smiled to us. Berlin is a very easy city to get around in, the public transportation is amazing and easy to maneuver. I loved the sites, history, and different neighborhoods to see. Fall is an ideal time to visit I think. It's not an overly crowded city and doesn't feel stressful as a tourist which I really liked. The apartment was in a quiet serene area. Walking distance to Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch. Rewe supermarket within walking distance. Bustop right outside the apartment. Apartment was fully equipped and had all the amenities one may require. Cosy, clean and beautiful. Hot showers, comfortable beds, sun room. I got stolen 30 euros from here by a woman asking or donations to help deaf children.. I meant to give only 10, but she swipped a 20 euro bill out of my hands and refused to give it back. Had to skip dinner because of that! History is amazing, but aside from the historical sites (brandenburg, victory column, cathedral, palace), the city was not pretty at all. Honestly, it looked like Chicago had sprinkles of Washington DC. Using the public transit system is NOT intuitive at all, and I would probably have gotten lost if I didn't meet anyone who spoke english. Metro stations are also lined with scary people who are homeless, on drugs, drunk, etc. City is insanely cold and very windy. If you are a solo female traveler, I would NOT recommend!
