This has been my dream city since 1978 and now in 2025 I managed to visit it again. I am fascinated by this town, its pleasant atmosphere. The architecture, the nice shops, the restaurants, the castle, the people, great!Guest review byValmarEstonia - 10.0

Fantastic town to walk around with oodles of old buildings tastefully maintained/restored. Plenty of opportunity to shop, although is seems this time of year, late September, things are slowing down and not every place is open. Had a great meal at the Zum Bar Hotel, you'll want to dine here at least once!Guest review byPeterAustralia - 10.0

A lovely traditional German town Good restaurants, bars etc
A lovely traditional German town Good restaurants, bars etc Good location to explore the Harz Mountains Try the local cable car - for breath-taking views from the top However, the location is now a testimony to global warming and devastation of the surrounding forests If you were a climate denier before - you will not be after a visit - unfortunately Although this should not distract you from visiting the Braunlage area!Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

If you want nature for your holiday, then Ilsenburg is the right choice! Mountains, trees, fantastic view from top! For hiking it’s one of the best route! Unfortunately, there’s also part of nature that, most of the trees are affected by the fest or plague so you will see that a lot of trees are dying or dead and some mountain are bald! Anyhow, we did hiking down and up till Brocken! And up there , 1142 m high is breathtaking👍😊Guest review byRonica418Germany - 8.0

Town is full of history with medieval houses and a hilltop castle that is very popular for German tourists. English is not common, especially in restaurant or their menus, so sometimes difficult for non-German speakers. Great place to visit Harz Mountains hiking areas and the Titan-RT suspension bridge and Dam and the Wendefurth reservoir for boating. Harz Railway Steam train to the Broken Mountain.Guest review byCharlesDenmark - 10.0

I am a history buff, and am quite interested in European history. Quedlinburg, the many narrow cobblestoned streets and wood-framed houses, the great majority of which were fully restored, offers a perfect window into times long past.Guest review byGordonUnited States - 10.0
Goslar is a place we have returned again and again.
Goslar is a place we have returned again and again. The town is beautifully preserved with many wonderful halftimbered houses. The city hall and Kaiserpfalz in town are well worth visiting and Rammelsberg is a must see UNESCO world heritage site. Goslar is an excellent place to stay while hiking or cycling or just sightseeing through the Harz mountains.Guest review byBernardCanada - 8.0
Braunlage is a cute small town in the National Park of Harz.
Braunlage is a cute small town in the National Park of Harz. It's ideal for skiing in winter, as it is a ski resort, and in spring-autumn is perfect for hiking and cicling. Broken is close by and it's worth the visit. It also has a very nice boulder hall for those that like to go climbing. Also, the cafe of the boulder hall has great selection of home made cakes (vegan friendly, and also good for persons allergic to milk) and the coffee is delicious. Ideal for a break during climbing sesions.Guest review byhectorcamachoSpain
