Munich is a lovely city.
Munich is a lovely city. The architecture and atmosphere met my expectations. I did an all day tour of Linderhof Palace, Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau, it was like walking though a beautiful painting. I was visiting during Oktoberfest which you have to see to believe, it was amazing and the beer was wonderful. The classic and modern art museums are next to each other and have exceptional exhibits. The first thing I noticed upon arriving in Ingolstadt is the cleanliness of the area from the moment I stepped off the train. I had travelled from Cologne through Berlin, Dresden and Nurnberg, stopping a view nights in each place, and Ingolstadt was the best ‘first impression’ of a city I experienced. This continued throughout the 3 days I spent there. The train station is located in a leafy area next to a beautiful park and surrounded by 3 churches. The city has numerous walkways and cycle routes alongside the river and through beautiful gardens. The city is extremely peaceful and had beautiful architecture and many historic buildings and sights. You will find good coffee shops and some of the best traditional food dishes in Germany. Rosenheim is an intermediate town between Munich and Salzburg. The town is pleasant but unremarkable. For rail travellers it is a good (and often cheaper) base to to explore these cities as well as the Chiemsee, Berchtesgaden and the Bavarian mountains. Berchtesgaden is an amazing place for a vacation. There is so much to do with free bus access to hikes and other interesting sites. The town itself offers many dining options, places to visit, and a very helpful tourist info center. Berchtesgaden is easily accessible by train and a stay in a guest house gets you free bus service throughout the whole fantastic region. We highly recommend it as a place to visit for at least several days. Clean, comfortable apartment with enough space for 5 people, even a dining table is included for 5 people, the fridge is quite big. You have to ask the wifi code by booking. com message or by sms and the stuff will send it to you. There is plenty free parking space available just next to the hotel or if you are lucky even at front of the hotel.
