I have never felt more welcome at the end of a long journey than I was at this hotel. Nestled in an Altstadt on the site of Bad Arolsen, the hotel is meticulously clean & optimally comfortable. The entire staff demonstrates a hospitality that is, at the same time, consummately professional and genuinely courteous. My 5 day stay in a King suite provided me with the privacy I needed for my work. This is a place for clearing one’s mind, journaling, walking and meeting people from all parts and regions of Germany, and beyond. I give it my highest recommendation.

Riding through the forest and passing through Bromskirchen we were a bit apprehensive about this hotel but we were happy that we found this place The owner , Frau Inden is a truly wonderful hotel manager and receptionist. Very helpful and exceedingly friendly . Great bike inside storage . Our room #8 was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in in over 30 years of bicycling throughout Europe . Spacious , very clean , comfortable bed . Extensive use of wood in room made it very comfortable and homey . Sitting room plus bedroom with lots of large windows and a really nice balcony looking out over nature - what more could you ask for . Great breakfast with made to order eggs and more good food than a couple could consume . The proprietor was always available if you desired any more to eat but we were already stuffed . We will stay here again and again if we are able in the future.

Fairly easy checkin. The woman did not speak English but her husband did and when he was not available, we used Google Translate to assist between German and English. No problem really. And, the breakfast was a very nice European style buffet and self coffee. Very nice. Car park on site with no extra charge.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Even though most of them don't speak English well but they really make sure they assist you on everything you need. It is a very nice hotel to just relax and enjoy the spa facilities. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.

    We just had the sweetest time at the Wald Hotel. The kids are 6 and 4 years old and this was their second time skiing. The property is really cute, the staff is lovely and helpful, the double room we had was cosy, spacious and had direct access to the playground via the balcony and a gorgeous view of a piste surrounded by hills. The breakfast was such a treat: lots of healthy options and the traditional German sausages and other pork products. We recommend and would love to go back. The only negatives were the intermittent WiFi in different areas of the hotel - it's spread over a hill with multiple floors, so it's understandable. And the swimming pool could be a couple of degrees warmer for ultimate comfort. The staff and the food were so nice we ended eating up there every night for dinner as well. We booked the hotel in order to go skiing in Willingen and we travelled there from London by car. It was our first time there, the ski resort was a neat surprise too, stunning views, nice runs for beginners and more advanced skiers. We so lucky with the weather - clear skies, warmth but lots of snow still going from previous weeks. A totally successful family holiday!

    It is more touristic than I thought, a bit overcrowded for my taste. One reason to not take the cable car up the mountain. If you like crowds and lots of restaurants you're at the right place. We had a good meal in Willingen. We went to the hang bridge (Sky walk) nearby, we visited the Dimeltalsperre and we went shopping in Winterberg.

    Loved the big room with all the facilities. The spa with multiple saunas, a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and relaxation rooms. The use of the spa was included in the room rate. The champagne breakfast spread was excellent. There was also free covered parking.

    This was an overnight getaway for us instead of a day trip from Frankfurt. The dam on Edersee Lake with views of this castle and the lake views from the castle were fantastic. The hotel had every luxury. The cafe was a great place to sit on the terrace and enjoy a beer with views of the lake. The Alte Turmuhr restaurant was excellent. Really nice overnight getaway.

    The town has a few pleasant 18th to early 19th C town houses, and a modest parish church. Most are strung along the single street, with the train station at one end, and the Schloss at the other (about 20-25 mins walk apart). The Schloss is the real highlight. Otherwise, the town is rather limited in interest. The town offers very limited accommodation, and rather few restaurants.

    Waldeck is a lovely old town with a beautiful castle/schloss on the hill top overlooking the edersee. The wildtierpark is definitely worth a visit. Only €6 entry and lots to see. The bird show is at 11:00 and 15:00 and very informative with beautiful local birds of prey and owls. Bring drinks and snacks as the cafe is outside of the park itself

    Willingen is a nice village located in stunning nature.

    Willingen is a nice village located in stunning nature. But it nevertheless became a hotspot for stag and hen parties and the likes. If you're looking for a calm and quiet place you need to come in Novembre or February. But if you - like we did - are keen to combine outdoor sports with a vibrant nightlife you've come to the right spot.

    Bad Wildungen is a super small city. It has several historic attractions, a cool pedestrian “alt stadt” and several interesting shops. There are many things to see in immediate area. It is a great location to do day trips from.

    We arrived late afternoon with our two teenage sons and...

    We arrived late afternoon with our two teenage sons and after settling in and having a cold drink in the castle yard we had dinner in a nearby village. The next day we took the lift down to Edersee where we rented a boat for a couple of hours enjoying the wonderful landscape from the water side. We spend the afternoon in Wildpark Edersee wandering for three hours. We had a lovely day.

    Willingen has changed a lot In 1980-83 I was here nearly every Wedensday and Saturday Skiing. There is a lot more to do and see in Willingen. The hiking trails are great there are a lot of Mountain bike trails as well. One small point if you want to eat at one of the more well known resataurants at 19.00 make sure you reserve a table the day before.

    The main reason for our visit was to visit our family that lives there. Plus we arrived when most of the summer activities and events were almost over. We managed to see one event which was the Potato festival and there were other activities taking place the last week of September, so unfortunately we couldn't be there. Bad Wildungen is noted for their big forests so one could go for lots of long walks and enjoy the outdoors. There and lots of lovely Summer activities that takes place there every year.
