The place was amazingly clean, everything was easy on the eyes, the room had an amazing view and was extremely comfortable. The pool & beach were amazing. and of course the faculty and staff are what made the entire stay even more amazing, I’m not sure if the person I met was the GM or the owner of the place, but he was very respectful and made sure all my expectations were met and that I had a great experience which I really did.

We had an amazing stay at Golden Ocean. The suite was very clean and since the moment we arrived we were taken care of. We were given a delicious lemonade upon arrival. Then we were taken around to choose the suite we wanted (based on view). Breakfast was very good, served hot and taken to our suite. Ahmed the front desk staff was very kind and helpful; he took very well care of us and made sure we were happy and comfortable. We had a little inconvenience during our stay but Ahmed brought us to the general manager Hassan. Mr. Hassan was amazing to speak with. He resolved the inconvenience and provided excellent service. He even gave us his personal number and asked us to call him anytime (stated he is available 24hr) if we faced any inconvenience again. He made sure that we were happy and even sent us a delicious fruit tray after we came back from the beach. We originally booked through booking but in the end thanks to the great service we received we decided to extend our stay. All the people we encountered were great from the people taking out luggage and cleaning our room to the general manager Mr. Hassan. I would truly recommend anyone to book the lake suite ☺️ and enjoy access to the lake and the outdoor jacuzzi.

I would like to send special shout out to chef Mahmoud from the restaurant. I was supposed to check in around 8 pm and due to change in schedule from my side, I had to check in past midnight. I called the hotel to inform them about my delayed checkin and asked if they can connect me with the restaurant to make sure they will be open ( or at least room service ) when I arrive and Chef Mahmoud told me that he will stay late for us. Not only did he stay late, he had to stay till 4 am ( thats when I arrived ) which was way past the restaurant close time and when we arrived, he already had dinner in our room waiting for us and he checked with me in the morning that everything was great. Its because of people like Mahmoud I love this place. His hospitality is above the chart

Our room had EXCELLENT AC and was perfectly located near the pool and the sea. They gave us plenty of free water bottles. The buffet breakfast and dinner was pretty good and was included in the price. The food was fresh. We ordered room service one afternoon and the food was very good. They had the best hotel gym. It was going to a Gold’s Gym. The property was clean and well organized. The staff was so sweet and helpful and spoke English. The property was beautifully lit at night. It was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely come back here. There were several other people there from the USA, China, and Europe. It’s a kid friendly place too. They had life guards and a really pretty restaurant by the sea where you could order food and drinks

Beautiful decor, gorgeous setting, comfortable beach and dining area. The staff was superb and went above and beyond, catering to our every need. Welcoming and very friendly. Dareen the guest relations woman helped us celebrate my mom’s birthday and decorated her room beautifully. Ahmed at the front desk helped us find a room for my elderly mother that was ideal for her. Really exceptional staff! Thank you for an amazing stay.

The worst place I’ve ever been to in my life.

The worst place I’ve ever been to in my life. They humiliate you just to book a restaurant or go to the beach, with strange rules: entry is only allowed for couples, and for couples the woman must not be veiled. It’s extremely expensive, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to even consider going there.

The town itself isn’t geared for tourists as there are no restaurants that cater for you if you don’t speak Arabic. If you are happy to stay in your hotel to eat then you’ll be fine. We were there for 3 nights having travelled from the desert in Siwa & it was a great place to rest for a few days before heading back to Cairo & our flight home.

It’s place for kids to spend time on swimming, swimming pool safe and good but it’s not good place for tourist , entertainment is poor and nothing around the hotel , food is not good , we can not swim in the sea because waves was very strong

The chalet were clean and the terrace lake view was amazing. There are 3 beaches, the front of the resort is good but we enjoyed Sidi AbdElrhman beach. The cafeteria food was delicious and cheap. Owner was friendly and very welcoming. You must have a car to go to the 3 beaches.

Was the best surprise in our trip to Egypt. Marsa Matruh has two of the best beaches we ever saw in our lives: Cleopatra and Agiba. For sure we will be back. We loved also the Museum of Marsa Matruh. There is a McDonald's just in front of the beach, so you can eat your "big mac" or an ice cream with an amazing view!!! The people of the city are not very used to meet strangers in my opinion, it seems that differently of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, Marsa Matruh is more focused for Egyptian tourism instead of foreigners, so not everybody speaks English there. Prices are cheaper than in other cities of Egypt. We had a taxi driver that became our friend even we only could talk using Google Translate. Very warm personality and we booked him to guide us in all the beaches in a day trip. We can't wait to return to those amazingly beautiful and crystal clear beaches!!!

It is not a city you can visit as a tourist.

It is not a city you can visit as a tourist. You need to book in a resort which you may leave once during your stay to have a dinner in one of the bedouin restaurants in the area. If you’re not going for business make sure to pick a resort with all facilities you might need.

don't go to Matruh in peak season( July & August) too many people are in the streets & on the beaches, choose remote suburban location outside main city if you are a foreigner or Non Muslim women as culture & religion are playing against you if you want to take a dip in the sea wearing a one- piece swimsuit, the city is blessed with splendid nature and is cheap,

If the tourist doesn't care about room comfortability and can pay more, then the Hotel is good with respect to other facilities - beach, swimming pool, restaurants. After my search, I found similar facilities with much lower prices.
