Toledo seemed to have less outdoor eating/drinking places than there were in Segovia which we also visited. I think this was perhaps due to the fact that buildings are so tightly packed together compared to Segovia. Incredible place to see the windmills and the castle on the hill and to discover the history. But.... depending on the time of the year and the night of the week you may find no restaurants/cafes/food options open in town. Toledo is beautiful but very hilly and steep hills. If you could make me 10 years younger I could have seen and done more. The hop on hop off sightseeing bus was great for us. We spent the first two nights of our fly drive trip around the region in Toledo and were not disappointed. Beautiful city, lots to see and do. Consuegra is a good location to visit the windmills and castle above the town and they are very well worth a visit. There is not a great deal of choice of hotels in the town and with the benefit of hindsight I would have visited the windmills and castle in the morning and then had lunch near the Plaza España at restaurant Gaudy which is absolutely terrific. There are very few bars in Consuegra and the only 2 we found did not open until 20.00 hours or later in the evening. While there are a good number of restaurants open for lunch they are mainly closed in the evenings, certainly during the week.
