It takes time walking from the train station to get to the location because out of season there isn't bus service, and taxis are hard to get. The employees and receptionist are helpful and kind. They agreed to look after my luggage untill the time of my train. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk from a supermarket and petrol station for those who need it. Clermont-Ferrand was a really enjoyable place to visit. I especially liked how the city blends natural beauty with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Getting around the city was pretty straightforward. When it came to food, we mostly tried local spots we came across while walking around, and overall, the food scene felt very authentic and accessible. There were also lots of parks and open spaces where he could run around and play. Easy and cheap to park in the town centre. Our host gave advice. Porcelain museum definitely worth a visit. Also the station buildings. We enjoyed walking around the medieval streets. Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city.
Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city. The city is divided by a straight road with many shops. It is good to explore both sides. We loved Brive as a destination, we stayed for 7 days, arrived at Brive airport, had to get a taxi, no public transport, paid 70euro to get taxi from boulevard Jules Ferry to airport on a Sunday. Yikes... Would recommend renting a car overall .Guest review byLotteIreland - 8.0

Angoulême is a beautiful city with the cartoon murals all around. But I didn't know that some places were on top of the hill, like the cathedral, some museums were all down by the mountain. I kind of struggled walking all around because of the heat stroke ( it was 40 degrees). But city buses can save you and take you anywhere you want. Very pretty town with cobblestone streets which are a killer on the feet so be prepared with good walking streets. Lunch - La Terrace Rouge - located at La Dominique winery - perfect. Reasonably priced and food presented beautifully Dinner - La Table 38 - in the centre of Saint Emillion - great little spot and the guy who served us spoke perfect English. Very well priced and food was very good Lunch - Le Caffe Cuisine- located in Branne- bistro - full of atmosphere and busy. Great spot out of town. Well priced. Winery - chateau La Grande Clotte - located in Lussac - shown around the vineyard and tasted 4 wines all free of charge. Julie and Mathieu are a young couple who have renovated the property and run the business by themselves. Had one hour there by appointment and really enjoyed the chat. Very informal and we were the only ones there. Perfect. We spent 2 days at Saint-Emillion and felt this was enough. Maybe one extra day but definitely we wouldn’t have wanted more. To visit the wineries you need to book in advance. Best to have a car.
Best to have a car. We used our car very day to drive to various vineyards and wineries on both the left bank and the right bank. The location of the chateau is near the main highway and easy to access. Great little quaint hotel, absolutely charming. Walk across the street, you have a little church worth seeing. You can see the castle from the little plaza next to the restaurant. Within walking distance to the castle. Everything there was enchanting. The hosts were perfectly welcoming, friendly, helpful. DO NOT MISS the breakfast. It is well worth it.
