It was founded in 1909 and has retained its identity, imbued with the entire history of France, from royalty to the present day. The room is typically French small, but has all the facilities for a stay including a very comfortable bed. We ordered breakfast in the room and they brought us very fresh and delicious pastries, starting with fresh baguettes in various types, croissants, and other famous French buns. Even if we had no desire to eat, it was impossible not to be tempted. :)) We had dinner at the restaurant and also celebrated my birthday. The cuisine exceeded my expectations, with very refined and beautifully presented dishes. And most importantly - it was delicious! Thank you very much to the chef! Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Lovely, long beach.
Lovely, long beach. Quieter than St Jean de Luz, but still with a good choice of small restaurants, often specialising in fish/seafood. Good public transport links, not expensive, to be able to visit other nearby villages and towns of the Basque Country Lovely walk up over the headland, or instead -a little stroll along the promenade. Visited Hondaribbia in Spain by a very short boat trip that leaves from Hendaye port. Beautiful little village-nice pintxos in the restaurants ! And good view from up by the castle. If you like vibrant environment (not a touristic hell vibrancy) Ciboure is the right choice. It is a charming place with beautiful beaches, stunning views of the Pyrenees, and vibrant Basque culture. It is a true Paradise for runners and those who likes long promenades. Fort de Socoa and area around is beautiful in any time of the day and you can find many outstanding restaurants there with affordable prices. You can reach St Jean de Luz by foot in 20 mins from Fort Socoa, and in 10 min from Ciboure Eglise (which is worth to visit!!!). and of course you can explore the nearby beautiful villages!Guest review byNataliaFrance - 10.0

This is a pretty Pays Basque village with a fabulous church...
This is a pretty Pays Basque village with a fabulous church at its centre (see my photos). It has all the usual French shops for bread, wine, cheese, pharmacy needs, plus several bars, cafes and restaurants. There is a large hypermarket half way between the village and the hotel, which includes a petrol station and a 24-hour (outdoor) launderette. The hotel is actually a few kilometres out of town but still in the "commune" of St Pee sur Nivelle. There are no facilities (hypermarkets, small shops, bars etc) in reasonable walking distance of the hotel, so you need transport. Biarritz is an absolute treasure of a place to visit.
Biarritz is an absolute treasure of a place to visit. It has so much on offer and if you like surfing, there are multiple places to hire boards and wetsuits as well as a large number of surf schools. We LOVED the swimming beach too and the aquarium. There are many food options for different budgets. As the weather was so nice, we got take away food most evenings and sat on the beach, watching the sun set. There are many restaurants and the brunch scene is big with lots of pretty places to choose from, I highly recommend Les Halles covered market and the little train to get a feel for where everything is.
