As soon as you enter the hotel, you knew that your experience was going to be very good. The staff straight away were very friendly and with a smile. Once in the room it was spotless, spacious and very comfortable. The bar and eating areas again were spacious and comfortable. I think what I enjoyed most was the staff, especially the bar staff and waitresses. They would always have a smile and engage in conversation with you, getting to know you, advising you and even giving me a lesson on the history of the cocktail Bramble.

FAQs about hotels in England

The Small Country with Big Appeal

For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.

Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.

Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.

With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

We arrived early for check in but luckily our room was ready so the girl on reception was very helpful and friendly and sorted that out for us. The room was very spacious for me my partner and my toddler. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast in the morning was very good and I had arranged balloons on the table for my partners birthday (thanks to the staff for sorting that) we also booked into the restaurant for dinner on the Saturday evening which was a lovely meal. Couple of different menus to choose from and not badly priced either. We got vip access into the park which was really good we was one of the first into the park. We throughly enjoyed our stay at the big blue hotel and we would definitely stay here again when visiting Blackpool and I would recommend this hotel to other couples and families as the location is perfect. It's round the corner out the way but not too much out the way. Tram does stop right outside if you don't want to walk. Thanks Big Blue Hotel for a lovely stay 😊

The grounds are stunning, it’s a really beautiful place to stay. The bedrooms are big and the staff are all lovely and helpful. It’s a short walk to the beach and in to St Ives. It’s hilly but doable if you are moderately fit. We managed it carrying paddle boards! I’ll definitely be back- we really loved our stay.

“If you tire of London you tire of life” - Samual Johnson. There is so much to see and do you couldn’t be board, they only negatives for a major international city is that it is not a 24 hour city, most things close at regular times and pubs even in city Center close at 12. Some tube lines close at night.

We went on a bus tour of the illuminations which was something we would not do again. Very disappointing. The first hour was spent on the back roads seeing nothing but traffic lights and pedestrian crossings and the last half an hour was the actual illuminations which were quite nice but by which this tine we were already very bored and they were just too little too late. Totally not worth it. We also visited the pleasure beach where quite a few ride favourites were closed due to technical issues, including the ghost train and Wallace and Gromit which closed just as we got close to the front. A few hours later when it reopened we had to queue again spending almost another hour in the queue to then have the kids complaining because they had already done this once to get sent away. Blackpool is very run down to what it use to be and has only got worse each year. Sad to say our Blackpool holidays are over we won’t be returning other than for an odd day trip.

To all you unfit people out there, just be aware that there is a climb into the main shopping/social area of Newcastle (Grey street/rd),lovely coming down it,but he'll on your legs going up the first couple of times. Lovely riverside market on Sundays that we didn't know about, food stalls from all over the world there, plus lovely little independent craft stalls. Plenty to do in town if bad weather head to the indoor food/shopping area called Eldon square, lots of shops and food retailers all under one roof, plenty of choice for everyone.

Great place to visit if you are interested in historical sites. Lovely medieval downtown area, with an almost overwhelming amount of places to eat out or shop. If you have visitors and you'd like to show them traditional British towns, this is certainly a place to take them. Also, uniquely, most of the city walls are accessible and free, best way to explore.
