FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

I love London.
I love London. Lived there for 10 years and it brought back memories. Go to the Old Compton Brasserie, Old Compton Street, Soho. Smashing food, service, and music. The security fella was brilliant and a very handsome DJ called Deccy was fab. Played all of our tunes and got the floor dancing. We’ve been before many times. Perfect for a night out with any type of group or couples.Guest review byMaireUnited Kingdom - 6.0
The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are...
The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are worth a visit. There are surprising pockets of history like Castlefield and Deansgate but they are hidden and need to be discovered. But overall the city is a hodge-podge of bad architecture including a lot of new tall towers placed senselessly throughout the city. The Chapel Street where the hotel is located is visually depressing - rundown buildings and dirty lanes wherever one looks. Obviously there seemed to be no city planning vision and willingness to keep the city clean. Streets are dirty, garbage all over especially in side streets and along the canals. Eating out is expensive for this type of city and 10 - 12.5% service charge is common. Trains station and airport are outdated and not up to snuff. But that is the reason for travelling to experience the unknown.Guest review byLotharCanada - 10

A great city, lots of interesting things to see. Would particularly recommend the Magical Mystery Tour, and a night at the cavern. Hard Days Night Hotel is superb, and excellently positioned for seeing the city.Guest review byRuthUnited Kingdom - 10

We travelled over for an NEC show. So easy from airport into NEC, then onto train into Birmingham for one night. We were really impressed with Birmingham - lots of character buildings, looked like great restaurants and bars, a lot of them in beautiful old restored banks etc. Can recommend!Guest review byLynn395United Kingdom - 8.0

We only stayed for a short trip as my friend is still working, she had never been to Blackpool before, I have many times. Blackpool has something for everyone and there are always things to do and places to eat for all tastes and pocket. As a Weatherspoons fan -there are three, so you know what food you can get and drinks are great value, even though extremely busy in the evening, service there was quick on the one evening we ate there. Easy travel with the trams, buses or ponies with carriages, as a disabled person I still managed and found the pavements generally quite level to walk. Multi attraction tickets bought in advance are a good saving for things like the Tower, Tussauds etc etcGuest review byAlice - 10

The town centre is very compact so many of the main attractions are in easy walking distance. We came for the Mercury Awards 2025 and had a great evening with a lovely, good natured local audience. I can also recommend the Newcastle City Guide Walking Tour https://newcastlegateshead.com/newcastle-city-guidesGuest review byMarieUnited Kingdom - 10

Bristol is a city with a lot of buzz! It has its rougher edges but that's part of the charm. I loved the amount of street art, the really cool musea, and the overall vibe and amount of cool independent shops.Guest review bynolothotSpain - 8.0

The Minster guides and guided tours are really helpful and informative. They point out all sorts of features one might miss otherwise. Go to see the Treasurer's House behind the Minster for a quirky and interesting house tour, lovely garden and a nice cafe with good soup and scones. The Merchant Adventurer's Hall right across the road from our rental property was new to me and well worth a visit with a nice not too crowded cafe and garden too.Guest review byJ LUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Very convenient to get to/from T5.
Very convenient to get to/from T5. Pod wasn’t running evening I returned from trip but was the next morning. Efficient check in, room seemed furthest from reception, clean and comfortable bed but there was a loud, constant humming all night so I didnt get much sleep.Guest review bycbutler67United Kingdom
