- From US$275.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 140 reviewsAn unforgettable experience My friend and I had the pleasure of staying with Robin and Jane at their wonderful B&B for 3 days – and it was nothing less than magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, kindness and a hospitality that went straight to our hearts. The place is located in the most idyllic setting, surrounded by majestic mountains and a small river. And when we arrived, we instantly fell in love with The Firecat. And we had not even met Jane, Robin and his amazing food yet. Every morning we were spoiled with the most delicious breakfast, far beyond what we had expected – homemade, flavorful and served with love and pride. In the evening, Robin worked his magic in the kitchen and served gourmet meals that invited all of our taste buds to the party. His creativity and ability to present the food beautifully and invitingly was impressive, and the quality was absolutely top class. It was clear, why he has won awards – it was a taste experience beyond the ordinary. And it was served with an intelligent and humorous conversation regarding cooking and countless other topics. The fireplace and candles created the perfect atmosphere. We can highly recommend a stay with Robin and Jane. It's not just a place to stay – it's an experience you take home with you in your heart. When we left them, we felt that we said goodbye to our friends - not strangers, we had only known for 3 days. Thank you Jane and Robin. We will meet again.Guest review byRaskDenmark
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 231 reviewsThe apartment was beautiful and new, the bathroom was broken and there was water leaking in the floors. There is no washer and dryer. I asked the host to extend it and unfortunately he extended the reservation from outside the booking site without informing me. He greedily overcharged my card and did not accept a refund on the last night, before which I canceled the reservation 24 hours earlier under the pretext of no other customers. He also raised the price by £1 for each previous night and no refunds were ever given. After a long conversation, only 50% of the last night was refunded.Guest review byRashaSaudi Arabia
- From US$173.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 450 reviews'Gwesty Ty Newydd' is a very lovely and comfortable hotel in the small village of Aberdaron, located directly at the beach. After a long day of walking the Wales Coast Path, my room was so much more than what I'd ever imagined. Comfy, relaxing, and only a few meters from the sea... All the staff were, typically Welsh, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. And, if you get the chance, give the inhouse restaurant a try for tea / dinner and a local ale - you will definitely not regret it! Highly recommended!Guest review byThomasGermany

You can never have too long in Llanberis area!
You can never have too long in Llanberis area! The mountains & lakes are stunning, and there is so much else to explore too. Snowdonia has a magical quality to it that makes it so special. Llanberis is also a great base from which to explore outlying places e.g. during my trip, as well as completing my main goals of climbing Snowdon and Tryfan, I took daytrips from Llanberis to Caernarfon and Anglesey on one day and Llandudno & Conwy on the other, visiting castles, National Trust properties and beaches on teh way. The various driving routes to and from these places back to Llanberis were a joy in themselves. The nearby Pen-y-Gwryd hotel is so interesting, steeped in mountaineering / Everest history - although it was lovely to have the place almost to myself to look around, it is a shame it is not promoted a bit more as a place to visit for a cup of tea / place to stay.Guest review bySerenaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Barmouth; if you don't know is surrounded by beautiful mountainous countryside, has a large expanse of sandy beach along a very accessible promenade. Good road or rail links. Personally I prefer decent main roads to the unpredictability of Motorways though roadworks seem to appear anywhere these days, so it can take a little longer, but the views make up for it for me. Plenty of places to eat and drink,Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10

With several heritage railways in close proximity and access by train, Porthmadog should be a must on any Train enthusiast ‘List of places to go’. My son has been talking about the FFestiniog railway (Rheilffyrdd FFestiniog ac Eryri) for many years. We were finally able to make the trek and we were excited to see it all. We could have spent 3-4 days going on the different excursions. Plan on getting into the Boston Lodge railway works for a tour there also.Guest review byJohn - 6.0

A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need of some government cash to bring more people in. We've never been in such a quiet city centre on a Saturday night; plenty of pubs, not enough people! So many Turkish barbers, so few decent restaurants...and no hotels! Plenty of take-out eateries, but that's not what tourists need! Lovely setting, Welsh government: you're missing out on tourism in Bangor, so splash the cash and glam it up...decent restaurants, a couple of hotels and a modern bar or two. The city should be very grateful for the Black Bull, JD Wetherspoon's, the only busy pub in town!Guest review byAnnetteUnited Kingdom - 10

If you are looking for an amazing beach with great dunes for long walks Aberdyfi is great. Other than that it is a very quiet seaside town with a few shops and places to eat. There is a train station that can take you along the coast, also a golf club and a bowling clubGuest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 10
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake.
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake. It seems to consist mainly of one high Street with various shops, pubs and eateries. The lake is beautiful. We hired a double kayak which cost 40.00ph and the whole hiring process was super easy. We also did the steam train ride along the lake which was lovely. There's lots more to explore so I'd definitely go back for a couple of days and explore the area some more.Guest review bysueUnited Kingdom - 10
