- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 67 reviewsHosts were very accommodating of our late arrival time. We were greeted with a spacious tower room apartment with stunning views of the ocean from their cliffside property. The kitchen has been updated in the apartment and generously stocked with tea, coffee (Nescafe), and shortbreads. The local coffee shop on the property is run by the hosts and had a great menu. We were too late to sample the full menu, but the sweets were delicious. We were made to feel at home without the hosts being intrusive at all. Felt like our own little hideaway in a historic castle. Wish we had had more time and better weather to explore the property trails more. They have hundreds of head of sheep (and lambs) and Highland cows on the property, too. Our hosts shared a favorite local whisky sample with us as well and made us fans of Tobermory whisky.Guest review bySherriUnited States
- From US$233.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,481 reviewsFirst of all it’s placement at Isle of Mull! This place is amazing, beautiful and as authentic you could wish. Second, the staff did upgrade our room without charging any extra, so we arrived to a suite with an unexplainable view to the sea. So pretty! The Western Isles Hotel made space for us at the restaurant and served a big, great meal. If we should ask for anything here, it would be an bit extra heat, but with the heat from everywhere else this place (generously) it didn’t play that big a role. Thanks for a great stay!Guest review byRenée SelmannDenmark
- From US$255.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 138 reviewsVery nice place, the salmon for dinner is very good. BUT BEWARE!! Don't trust Google Maps or Apple Maps: the hotel is 300 meters straight from the port; I was on a bike and had to do the mountain grand prix twice (there and back) because the GPS sends you to the other side of the island, to The Colonsay Apartments, even if it is indicated as The Colonsay Hotel. The photo is what the GPS says, but the hotel is close to the start.Guest review byPaoloItaly
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 693 reviews- very nice and welcoming host - comfy hut; we liked that our entrance and the picnic table outside faced the hill with the sheep, so it even felt more private - beautiful location with only a short walk to the amazing white beach - sustainability: separation of plastics, glass, paper etc for recycling; cupboard in the common kitchen for food to shareGuest review byAs.K.Germany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 953 reviewsThe staff were super helpful, friendly and welcoming. We loved the character of the building, and most of all the view from our room of the port was incredible (recommend getting a top story room)! The restaurant was also really great with fresh and tasty breakfast and dinner options (the included breakfast was a welcome bonus as well).Guest review byStaceyAustralia

Skye is beautiful but expensive.
Skye is beautiful but expensive. Lodging is hard to find, expensive. Restaurants are crowded. The weather is..the weather. We hit lots of rain. People told us unusually bad for September. But so much to see there.Guest review byRogerUnited States - 8.0

Broadford is well located to travel across all Skye, but also not too far from the bridge of Skye to reach back to mainland. It has a supermarket and some restaurants. A walk on the shore is beautiful.Guest review bySimoneSwitzerland - 10.0
Beautiful, quiet place with happy people.
Beautiful, quiet place with happy people. The restaurants are very good as well. Be prepared for hills, though, unless your accommodation is on the main street. My daughter and I had really good walks there. There were all sorts of ages visiting.Guest review byClaudineMalta - 10.0
Craignure is beautiful even in poorer weather.
Craignure is beautiful even in poorer weather. If planning to eat out of an evening this would be best booked in advance as there was only one pub serving food near the ferry terminal and they stopped serving at 8pm.Guest review byShaunaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers.
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers. There are many great distilleries in walking distance (Port Ellen, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig and soon another one) and many more by bus or taxi (but taxis are sometimes hard to get and there is no Uber available).Guest review bySilvioSwitzerland - 10.0

Dunvegan was quite central to travelling across Skye for our various planned activities - whisky tour, puffin tour, walking Quiraing, Fairy Pools and Old Man of Storr. The two shops had enough for the grocery essentials and there were several cafes and restaurants to provide choice. The castle was interesting though a bit pricey.Guest review bySuzieAustralia - 10.0

Sconser is quite small but it is central to most of Skye and the Raasay ferry is on your doorstep (lovely walking at the north of the island and up Dun Can, lots of eagles, Brochel Castle, a distillery). The village is set back on a road parallel to the main road and houses look forward to the sea and Raasay and backwards to the mountain Glamaig (great views both ways). The Sconser Lodge Hotel has a cosy bar with open fireplace. Their restaurant is open to non-residents when they can cope with numbers so nip in and chat about available dates well in advance.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 4.0

It was a beautiful island, but without activities, you might as well make a day trip and spend the money on better accommodation in the area, where you also have the option to choose from more restaurants.Guest review byEmanuelSweden - 6.0

We stayed at the caravan purely to facilitate an early morning ferry to Harris. We had fish and chips from the local takeaway which were very overpriced for what they were. They’re clearly taking advantage!Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom
