FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

The rooms were extremely plush and comfortable and the amenities of the hotel were exceptional. The only thing it lacks is a dry room which we expected given the hotel plays host to golfers and the weather can be very wet.Guest review byKimIreland

Amazing history,art,architecture and shopping!
Amazing history, art, architecture and shopping! Magnificent walks up to the Mound or just walking the city. Better shopping than Oxford Street in London! Hop on a tram to see the Royal Yacht Britannia and Leith and of course have coffee and cake. Public transport is great, cheap and lots of it.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I’m from Glasgow but haven’t lived there for many years.
I’m from Glasgow but haven’t lived there for many years. Great parks, great shops. Always something going on. Amazing pubs everywhere. Some with traditional musicians and theatre sessions (Oran Mor for “a play, a pie and a pint) Glasgow has a buzz of energy. Centuries of fascinating history, stories, legends. And you’re a couple of hours away from breathtaking natural beauty if you head north.Guest review byAnonymousNew Zealand - 10.0

Been a few times to Aberdeen as this is where our son lives. Plenty variety of eating places and pubs etc . We were there one night as we were there for a specific show at the time in the Aberdeen Music Hall. Downside is the amount of beggars and homeless people in the city centre.Guest review byBobUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Only had a day there but went on a boat trip in the morning. Nice little shopping centre and the church was worth a visit. Lots of shops, pubs and eating places. Had a very nice dinner at Crannog restaurant. We were too late to see the Museum as it was just shutting at 4.00 pm.Guest review byAnitaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Oban is our place to catch a ferry to the islands and where we land on return. It is a busy town, the harbour and Dunollie being our chief interest the short time we are there, watching the ferries and other vessels sailing off or returning to harbour is always a pleasure. As such it always has an air of excitement about it, the anticipation of a ferry journey amongst and to beautiful islands. Therefore it is always a pleasure to be in Oban.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We are regular visitors to this wonderful town and lucky enough to have experienced fantastic weather on the last three occasions. Very challenging putting green and well worth a visit. We had a fantastic meal at Fern Cottage and the cafe at the Hydro Dam has great views.Guest review byJacquiUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We stayed one night and actually tried to book another night but the property was fully booked. We visited the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle but ran out of time. We'd happily return again and take a bit more time to look around.Guest review byMarciaAustralia - 10.0

It's a bit like a time warp! Scottish architecture at its finest, with a stunning sea backdrop and rolling hills. Then, there's a load of hip students roaming the streets! A city of history and culture was my thought.Guest review byDohertyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I love this neck of the woods.
I love this neck of the woods. Plenty to do if you are an outdoors person or just want a break from busy places. It is a nice laid back location where there is a lot less hassle. Lots of nice food places - either restaurants or take-aways and plenty of shops where you could buy your own food if you don't want to go out. Highly recommended. If the weather is not so good there are plenty of lovely places you can drive to within 45 minutes.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom
