- From US$259.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 531 reviewsOur lake view room was large, and very comfortable. Fabulous scenery, just sit and enjoy the entire vista. A big bathroom with both bath and shower, and a magnified mirror....(I love that for putting on the makeup!) The breakfast was absolutely delicious, 100% to the breakfast chef and staff, all the staff were friendly and courteous and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant, again it was really lovely, and the waiter was very helpful in recommending a wine to compliment our main course. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to the beautiful Lake District.Guest review byRoseIreland

The area was mostly fine.
The area was mostly fine. In some areas the town was looking tired. Absence of any visible street cleaning. We must have passed an area where someone had let their dog foul the pavement at least eight times as we walked up and down to our guest house and back down towards the lake I know it’s individual dog owners where the responsibility lies but even so it’s a big tourist area So one would expect a bit more pride in the area Unfortunately we won’t be rushing back to visitGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Bowness is a very compact, beautiful, scenic place.
Bowness is a very compact, beautiful, scenic place. It is easy to walk around the town & walks around parts of the lake very accessible. Great boat trips available of varying lengths. Easy to get to other towns & villages by car or bus. Masses of eating places for a variety of tastes. Lovely area to view in any kind of weather.Guest review byHeatherUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Ambleside is a lovely place which I have been many of times.
Ambleside is a lovely place which I have been many of times. It’s more beautiful in the winter months as I feel it’s an escape from living next to the beach. The snow capped mountains, the feel of the cold when you step into somewhere with a fire feels warm and welcoming.Guest review byAdamUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Grasmere is a lovely little village with lots of character and quaint local shops. If you are in to jigsaws it's the place to go! The jigsaw shop is an experience not to be missed. There is a wide choice of eating options and the food was consistently good wherever we ate. We particularly enjoyed the pub food options.Guest review byScottUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Has a nice period 'feel'.
Has a nice period 'feel'. Lots of one-off shops and very few national chain stores. Quite hilly, which could be challenging in slippery conditions. The promenade provides an excellent, uncluttered walk along the marshy coastline, particularly in good weather. Lots of great, family-run restaurants and 'eating pubs'. Provides a civilised alternative to the popular holiday resorts.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The mountain is extremely picturesque and well worth the technical hike to the top. Glenridding is a lovely village & I could easily have stayed a couple of nights enjoying the pubs and hospitality whilst exploring the beautiful area & swimming in the tranquil, but cols water!Guest review byBannie19United Kingdom - 8.0

Small beautiful market town within a superb country setting back dropped by the lake district fells. Traditional market place with live market on Thursdays. Full range of restaurants from A La Carte to take aways - Indian is particularly good! Easy to walk about the town and local area with river Lune just out of the town - Devils Bridge a very popular tourist attraction.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Absolutely fantastic town with something to do for everyone. The cruise trip is definitely worth the money would highly recommend. The crown inn was beautiful and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. The small shops were full of character and sold practically everything.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom
