check you know about the car parking as it's limited to 3pm the next day and not 24 hours. Also it's worth upgrading and having IHG club membership as you get complimentary drinks and canapes between 5-7pm.

I had forgotten how beautiful York is because I last visited years ago. With lots to do and see and plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants. We also witnessed a beautiful wedding which was unexpected but I'm mit surprised they choose York and Malmaison

Loved the town, daughter has her heart set on Hallam uni now. Keep an eye on which way you walk in and out of the city from the hotel as there were dodgy areas, like any city. Loved the fact that the centre is almost all pedestrianised. Had a fab meal in Bella Italia.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We managed to walk up The Steps to St Mary’s Church & The Abbey. Lots of lovely photo opportunities. We had coffee at The Hopes & Beans Cafe. Staff were very friendly & the price was extremely reasonable. From Whitby we enjoyed visits to Sandsend & Runswick Bay. We loved the walks to the Lighthouses.

The city itself is not so very interesting, but it is an excellent location for countless wonderful trips to other nearby cities, towns and countryside, very easily accessible by train or bus. (Leeds, York, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Fountains Abbey, Halifax, Haworth, Hebden Bridge, NP Yorkshire Dales, ...... ). In Bradford, see what's playing at the beautiful historic theatre.

Doncaster town is very depressing.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.
