The breakfast was awesome and especially the service with KiKi from Sweden...what a delightful person.!! And kudos to the chef for allowing us to try the English Kippers... Check-in was very smooth and the staff was so kind and helpful. We even received a tour of the castle wedding facility before we left...SO BEAUTIFUL.!! Our story is 50 years ago we dated as 14 and 15 year olds for 8 years then as we acquired degrees, jobs, and moves to separate cities we lost our way together and each married other people...after my husband passed away, he reached out to me with condolences, and we just kept on chatting for some reason. Found ourselves meeting up occasionally since we live in different states and recently on this trip to England together. Wanting to stay in an English castle while here, I booked the Sneaton Castle for 1 night since we were visiting Whitby and not realizing it was mainly a wedding venue until we arrived, we checked into a suite which by the way was fabulous.!! I received a tour of the chapel and fell in love instantly...his first marriage was in the front yard of his home, I eloped and mine was in a little chapel in Reno, NV both not your typical "fairytale weddings" and when I showed him the chapel there at Sneaton Castle even his eyes lit up and I said, "Will you marry me, here.?" He smiled, and shook his head YES, someday...we were pleasantly surprised with the tour of the gardens and the reception area...I've been dreaming about it since.!! Excellent job on renovations of every area.!! Not one thing left undone...again, IT'S FABULOUS.!!! Dreaming of a wedding in my future at Sneaton Castle and I'm 67 years young...never stop dreaming.!!

It's a truly beautiful place with a unique interior design that we loved. Findig our room was like climbing up the stairs in a maze (in a good way) and made us feel as if we were staying in a castle. The room was clean, with surprise Kit-Kat bars and Cadbury hot chocolate powder on the tea table. The bed was big and comfy, bathroom shower excellent with two shower heads. Staff was really nice and helpful (e.g. carrying my luggage to our room). We loved the little garden in the back and the location is also perfect, in a quiet area but ten minutes on foot from the city centre. We appreciated that at breakfast, the self-service table was monitored and restacked regularly. If we return to York, we would love to book this place again.

Great location and facilities at this hotel. We really enjoyed the complimentary use of the spa. The shower was really warm and the bed was comfortable. It was easy to find parking and it is just a short walk to the beach and the town. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar area. The city itself has a lot going on but is also a 30-minute train ride from other interesting towns, like York, Saltaire, and Ilkley. Easy to get around by food, despite the awful freeways that carve up the city and the major construction at the railway station.

The Minster guides and guided tours are really helpful and informative. They point out all sorts of features one might miss otherwise. Go to see the Treasurer's House behind the Minster for a quirky and interesting house tour, lovely garden and a nice cafe with good soup and scones. The Merchant Adventurer's Hall right across the road from our rental property was new to me and well worth a visit with a nice not too crowded cafe and garden too.

Loved the town, daughter has her heart set on Hallam uni now. Keep an eye on which way you walk in and out of the city from the hotel as there were dodgy areas, like any city. Loved the fact that the centre is almost all pedestrianised. Had a fab meal in Bella Italia.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.

Huddersfield doesn't have the best of reputations, which is a pity. I think that it's an absolute gem. The buildings are gorgeous, particularly to one who looks, such detail and reference to the industrial past. From the entrance steps to the railway station, one can see a lion and a prime minister. If you roam and keep your eyes open, there is so much more. I ate at my hotel. i travelled by car,
