My first experience in a hostel and it exceeded my expectations: extremely clean, the kitchinette was welcoming every morning, the bar lively, the staff so friendly and my favorite part: the library, i would spend up to 3-4 hours everyday reading there, most relaxing part of the building. Also the location is so central, i visited 90% of the attractions by foot.

I loved this place and having nothing but good things to say about it! We stayed here in November and so the price was a great value for what we got which included a steam room in the shower and a jacuzzi on the balcony. The hotel was very clean and the service was amazing. The hotel manager was so helpful and friendly and even drove us to the airport when our taxi didn’t show up. Would definitely recommend this place!

Amazing city full of history, culture, good food, and good...

Amazing city full of history, culture, good food, and good people. Staying near Monastiraki Square was a great choice. It is very central with direct train access to the airport, port with it’s cruise ships and ferries, and the central historic areas of the city. Getting around Athens is super easy by subway and bus if your hotel is in the proper location as well. The system is easy to use and can be paid using you debit card or day pass bought at a machine in the station. Hard to find bad food. Just go to a restaurant that’s busy and it’ll be good or ask your hotel for suggestions. The most amazing thing for me was traveling on a modern bus, tram or train, and then you see giant marble ruins pass by. You are surrounded by history.

The old town and harbour are stunning- really picturesque with a happy, vibrant vibe, lots to see and loads of small, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The challenge is trying to find one’s way back to any particular shop, as the Old Town is such a maze of narrow cobbled streets with quaint, pretty houses. I had been told it’s a great place to visit but it vastly exceeded my expectations.

Heraklion has a lot of car and bike traffic.

Heraklion has a lot of car and bike traffic. It is like peak hour in Sydney constantly. Parking is horrendous. I would recommend staying out of Heraklion. Drive to Knossos Palace, but go early. The other attraction for us was the Archaeological Museum. Get a uber or taxi to that. The foreshore looks like they gave up on it years ago. After Chania, Heraklion was a disappointment.

We spent two weeks on the island in Fira, We stayed one week on the east side and one week on the west side. The east side of the island is quieter. You need to walk to shops and restaurants - uphill, so lots of cardio! We stayed at Hill Suites. A lovely, relaxing and private accommodation with a perfect lanai breakfast every morning. Thomas, the manager was an excellent host! The second week we spent on the caldera side. Very busy!!!! Shops and restaurants surround you. No cars here. Streets are lovely, narrow, winding paths leading you from one surprise to another. Everywhere the views are stunning! The best resource on the island is the bus terminal located in Fira. This terminal is a hub and spoke terminal. All buses leave and return to this terminal each trip. You can go anywhere for 2 euros one way. An excellent way to see the island! The buses run frequently so if you miss one, don't worry there will be another shortly. They also service the airport! Across the street from the bus depot is the Museum. A must see after you have visited the excavations at Akrotiri at the south end of the island. Really, find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy a beverage while taking in the view and watching the activities around you. Remember to breathe. Relax. Enjoy.

We go there a day or two early arriving from Athens to board our cruise ship. Piraeus is a lovely city. Almost next door is a new building with a bar looking out over the harbour. Down on the corner is a great kebab place and just across the road is a local, family run taverna with great food. We always order too much!

Picturesque city with a multitude of bars and restaurants.

Picturesque city with a multitude of bars and restaurants. A few high end clothing stores, and many many businesses selling jewelry, clothes, souvenirs and fridge magnets. Quite small, apparently caters to party goers over the summer (went in October end of season, where most main venues had closed).

Like many Cretan coastal towns and villages, Rethymno is overwhelmed by us tourists. It's distressing to walk very crowded mediaeval streets surrounded by souvenir shops. The famous bakeries are wonderful and the harbour is really beautiful. Parking has been addressed but the experience is still not pleasant. We found having a drink and a light meal on the waterfront a joyless experience, crowded area and surly service. I would recommend Rethymno for a quick visit to see the Old Town bakeries and the Harbour.

The people in Naxos were all so kind and thoughtful. The town felt very authentic. The food was delicious. The island had many charming places , but was difficult to navigate. GPS often took you off main roads and into areas difficult to drive and easy to get lost.

Historical city that deserves a visit! Easily walkable. Just a stunning amount of things to do and to eat! We also toured the Temple of Poseidon from Athens while our friends hired a driver and visited Corinth. We also enjoyed a nighttime dinner at Point A rooftop restaurant where the Acropolis shone brightly in the night sky. We loved our stay in Athens.
