I can say that these reviews are more than true, our expectations have been greatly exceeded. Everything is perfectly arranged down to the last detail. Hospitality of the staff is great! From the staff at reception, servers at breakfast/dinner to the cleaning ladies, everyone is super hospitable. Genuinely one of the most hospitable places i have ever stayed! A lot of reviews say that the food is good and i can confirm this with a resounding yes. The food and drinks here are of a different level. We had booked an half board. Breakfast has a big variety of products and dinner was fantastic every evening. As a result, we did not eat out of the resort a single evening... Rooms are clean and well maintained. (towels and linen get's refreshed every day) Each room has its own access to the (shared) swimming pool. We were lucky enough to have been upgraded to a suite with a private pool, but the entire resort is a fantastic place to stay. I can write much more, but everything is perfect here from A to Z. If you're looking for a place you can stop, drop, and do nothing for a few days to a week, this is perfect. We didn't need to leave the hotel at all - the rooms, pool, beach, everything, was better than expected. The staff are so helpful and friendly, they really made our stay there 10/10. I booked in for a massage in the spa which was exceptional, and the gym facilities are small but very new and modern. You can even book the gym out completely so you have the entire space to yourself. We don't have kids yet but there were many children there kept entertained at the kids club. When we do have children, I would 100% come back to Thalatta as I know they'll have a fun experience too! The breakfast is also outstanding. The old town and harbour are stunning- really picturesque with a happy, vibrant vibe, lots to see and loads of small, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The challenge is trying to find one’s way back to any particular shop, as the Old Town is such a maze of narrow cobbled streets with quaint, pretty houses. We go there a day or two early arriving from Athens to board our cruise ship. Piraeus is a lovely city. Almost next door is a new building with a bar looking out over the harbour. We loved staying in Oia, mid October had perfect weather! The crowds were not too bad expect for when the cruise ships came in, we avoided the town from 10am to around 1:00pm, evenings during the sunsets it gets crowded but it worth it to watch the sun go down, the sky lights up and is so beautiful, you can't miss it. Schedule a catamaran or private boat cruise, we highly recommend getting on the water to see it from the sea. Like many Cretan coastal towns and villages, Rethymno is overwhelmed by us tourists. It's distressing to walk very crowded mediaeval streets surrounded by souvenir shops. The famous bakeries are wonderful and the harbour is really beautiful. Parking has been addressed but the experience is still not pleasant. We found having a drink and a light meal on the waterfront a joyless experience, crowded area and surly service. The people in Naxos were all so kind and thoughtful. The town felt very authentic. The food was delicious. The island had many charming places , but was difficult to navigate.
