Lovely place, very historic, did a lot of walking in both directions from the old town. Bars and restaurants were mostly excellent and not badly priced. Easy to get up the coast on the bus, our accommodation was an ideal location for the bus station and it cost only 5 euros to get to the airport. The old town is rich with historical buildings and features. The fort is worth a visit too, make sure you get a guide book; the on-site information is very sparse. It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. The people in Naxos were all so kind and thoughtful. The town felt very authentic. The food was delicious. The island had many charming places , but was difficult to navigate.
