FAQs about hotels in Halkidiki
Mainland Greece at its Best
A 3-pronged peninsula to the south-east of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki is best known for its rolling scenery, beautiful beaches and good watersports.
The westernmost prong is the lively Kassandra peninsula. Sani on its west coast is backed by a pine forest and has beautiful sunsets. On the opposite side, Pefkohori’s fantastic beach and calm, shallow waters make it a popular choice for families. Polichrono and Kalithea to the north have a good selection of Halkidiki hotels on the beach, while Afitos has a picturesque Old Town with cobbled streets.
On the quieter Sithonia peninsula, Metamorfosi is a small village with a Blue Flag beach, while Neos Marmaras has a pretty harbour offering boat trips. On the eastern side Vourvourou is very popular and has lovely views of the offshore islands.
An island just off the Mount Athos peninsula is Amolianí which has rocky coastline and wonderful beaches. Across the water is Ouranoupoli whose small fishing harbour is guarded by a 14th-century tower. On the main part of the Halkidiki region, Stavros and Olympiada both sweep around picturesque bays dominated by the lush Cholomontas mountains.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 156 reviewsAfter some delays on our journey to Ammouda Villas, we arrived very late at night. Even though it was much later than our stated arrival time, Giannis was there to greet us with warmth and a smile. We woke up to a stunning view of the beach and the Aegean Sea beyond. The property is unlike anywhere else we have stayed in Halkidiki. The conscientious planning of the grounds by a landscape architect makes for a natural sanctuary, so much so that we barely left the property during our stay, a first for us. The property thrums with bees, birds and butterflies. Well placed hammocks, recliners, and loungers invite you to relax. The beach is directly across from the villa. A road cuts through in between, but a zebra crossing joins the property to the beach and, in May at least, the road is very quiet. We felt safe leaving our 9 year old to come back and forth on his own. Ammouda Villas has it's own private beach complete with umbrellas, sun loungers and outdoor shaded lounges. Beach towels were supplied. One of the features that makes this place stand out from the rest is its supply of activities free for guests. Bicycles, quistax, kayaks, paddle board, an outdoor basketball area (complete with fully inflated basketballs), table tennis and a foosball table are all in excellent condition; there is always something to do. There is even an edible garden with delicious organic food that is for the guests to use as they wish. The villa itself is just like the photographs. We stayed elsewhere in Halkadiki two weeks prior to Ammouda Villas. Both look lovely in the photos, but the first place was like many we have stayed at in the region, cheaply finished with some fixtures needing repair and not that comfortable to stay in. Ammouda Villas is not one of these places. It feels very well made, with good finishings and is very comfortable. The place is spotless and everything works as it should. The grounds staff all are very friendly and Giannis is an incredible host!Guest review byDanielleSaudi Arabia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,720 reviewsI was amazed by the helpfulness of the amazing staff! They all were so kind, starting by the reception and ending by the owner - main manager of this hotel! They all exceeded any expectations! They helped me to get snack while my very late check-in , the bartender had excellent treatment for the late check-in guests, I got an amazing drink from him ! The manager helped me with my professional request . But one of my favourites is the head-waitress Georgia from the restaurant , she was always in a wonderful mood and made my vacation days (and I am pretty sure, the days of the other tourists as too!) amazing ! I want to express my gratitude to all members of the staff ( from as wel back as the front office!). Thank you for this memorable experience! Even though the days were very hot it was a beautiful vacation! As advise to the other tourists : please take into consideration that the warmth could be extreme during the summer months June-July in Greece , till ~40 degrees sometimes. Although the beach is just 150 meters away and it has an amazing refreshing effect, be aware of this in order to understand what to expect from your vacation at this point! The most amazing conditions are in March or October! You will certainly have no regrets considering anything if you come during that time , in my opinion! Although, like I said the staff compensates it all with their exquisite spirit even if you come in the hottest moths!Guest review byDariaNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 460 reviewsWe stayed one week and everything was perfect. Everywhere you are is clean, the room, pool area, restaurants, garden, beach. I read some reviews regarding the food, but for us the food was very good, there are many options. On the beach are many sunbeds, but it is true that you have to wake up early to reserve it. Overall, I recommend this hotel for families with children.Guest review byDianaRomania

Nikiti is an ideal town for families with children, especially those aged 1–12. Everything is within walking distance. The beach and sea are perfect for kids, and the restaurants are family-friendly. There are also toy machines for children to play with. However, it might be a bit boring for young couples without kids, as there aren’t many entertainment options such as night clubs or disco bars.Guest review byMURATTurkey - 8.0
Ouranopoli is small and nice place.
Ouranopoli is small and nice place. A person could find quiet and cozy places or to be at the heart of the city where are located all the restaurants and bars. Beaches are very nice. The water is crystal clear and most of the beaches are with sand. There are lots of entertainments - boat rentals, diving, etc.Guest review byLidiyaBulgaria - 10.0

If you want to experience real nice place with fabulous sightseeing views long up and down walks with very nice sandy beach at the end of the city and not so far away other beautiful beaches - Neos is jut a right fit! It has the scent of old towns at the cliff but in the same time it has a layers of modernity embroidered throughout the scape. If it is more for young people? Maybe, if you don't like to walk but there is round walk next to the sea side as well... Nice restaurants, small shops just in a proper measure - for vacation that will fulfill you with scents and flavors of Greece.Guest review bySrdjanSerbia - 10.0

Afytos is by far the most beautiful place in this part of Greece. Unlike other nearby towns, it carries a unique history and a special vibe that you simply don’t find elsewhere. The distinctive architecture, with its charming mix of stone and wood, gives the village character, while the narrow streets create an authentic atmosphere that feels timeless. Walking through Afytos is like stepping into another world, one that is rich, welcoming, and truly unforgettable.Guest review byMakedonkaNorth Macedonia - 6.0

We were at the very end of the season so it was quiet and lots were closed. You really need to travel around and visit other beachrs in the area. More are prettier than Pefkohori as it is a small town.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Decent place to swim and sunbathe, although among the...
Decent place to swim and sunbathe, although among the dirtiest I've seen in Greece. The dirt in the sand is never collected, and people vacationing here are not among the most educated, considering the very low prices. It's weird that not even private beach owners (renters?) bother to clean up the sand at their location. The city is always full of cars, and more seem to be coming every minute. I have never seen so many people driving around such a small place in so many cars. The good news is that all the streets are one way, although you'll see a lot of cars going the wrong way, so be careful, especially at the intersections. Also, there is no genuine Greek taverns in the area, only fast food restaurants. This is literally a food industry, with all restaurants craming tables one on top of another to seat as many customers as possible for the shortest amount of time possible. You can eat good food if you follow Google Maps ratings, but don't expect an authentic experience. It's just business. On the plus side, the restaurants are among the cheapest in Greece, which might explain the kind of people vacationing here and their habits (throwing garbage right next to them, never considering the bins nearby).Guest review byCristianRomania - 10.0

A wonderful place right on the shore of the azure Aegean Sea! Our host Ivan was exceptional – always ready to help with advice or organize a restaurant reservation, yet discreet and unobtrusive enough to make us feel completely independent, just like at home. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fruit basket – a kind gesture from the host. The cleanliness and order of the place immediately stood out. It is truly an oasis of peace and enjoyment by the sea. The water is crystal clear, and the beach is beautiful, lively, and full of different attractions. Evenings in Kallithea offer a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and clubs where you can have a wonderful time. Thanks to this place and our host Ivan, we had a truly amazing and unforgettable holiday!Guest review byEmilSwitzerland - 10.0

A typical resort town with a nice beach, many restaurants, shops, gift shops. Early in the morning you can watch the sunrise, the sunset is on the other side of Kassandra arm. The beach is a bit narrow and in the height of the season it would be more difficult to find places in the free use area. On the other hand, there are quite a few beach bars where you can sit while drinking and eating. The town is also located in a convenient location, from where within 30-40 minutes by car or less you can visit many other beautiful beaches.Guest review byDianaJBulgaria - 10.0

It very beautiful calm place where you can go as well as with family also with group of friends or even by yourself. There many places to see and enjoy. Beautiful beaches and tasteful restaurants nearby. Perfect place to relax and regain your strength!Guest review byValeria2016Russia - 8.0
Small and quiet village with very good houses.
Small and quiet village with very good houses. However one thing that we didnt like were the taverns. Pizza and pasta places in Greece feels a bit like a joke. The few traditional taverns were a bit overpriced and the food was not that good. Not to mention the fish taverns at the end of the village… quite bad. The only place that i can actually recommend is the gyro place in the beginning of Paliouri.Guest review byViktorBulgaria
