- From US$142.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 79 reviewsEverything was perfect: We only booked Stefano's Studios for 1 night due to a change in our plans, but if I had the option I would cancel the other accommodation we had booked for 4 days and stay at Stefanos'. Location: walking distance to Skala, but bear in mind that if it's too hot you may need a transport. The room: The nicest room we have stayed in during our holidays this year. Spacious, airy, SUPER CLEAN, with a fully equipped kitchenette, the view from the balcony was to die for (we could see the castle of Chora and the entire Skala port). We booked a studio for 2 but got a bonus bed (1 double and 1 single), which we highly appreciated as we could spread around and feel like home. Hospitality: Stefanos and Evdokia are the definition of Greek hospitality! We asked for a taxi to be arranged due to large luggage, but Stefanos picked us up from the Port and when we were leaving the next day, they held our luggage till our check in time with the other place and gave us a lift to that place so we don't have to worry about anything. Even when there was a mix up with the other accommodation Evdokia and Stefanos tried to help us and offered us a different accommodation so we had somewhere to sleep (whilst the mix up was resolved with the other place, we couldn't be more grateful to Stefanos and Evdokia who went out of their way and tried everything to keep us at ease). Other: not only did they sort out our great stay, but Stefanos also owns a rent car/scooter service and we also rented our scooter from him and got all the valuable information to enjoy our stay in Patmos. Next time we are here we will look no further and just book everything with Stefanos and Evdokia so we can enjoy peaceful holidays.Guest review byRafaelaNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 70 reviewsIf your idea of luxury is something sleek and modern, then this may not initially be what you're expecting. Perhaps 'rustic', 'traditional' or even 'Grandma chic' would be better descriptors, but what this place lacks in modern refinement it more than makes up for in other ways. Our stone villa was charming, characterful and spacious with stunning views and a beautiful courtyard and private garden. There are equally wonderful views from the lovely, uncrowded pool and restaurant area too and the food in the restaurant is superb—undoubtedly one of the best places to eat on the island. Yet surprisingly, the villas, the food and the location aren't even the best parts of this accommodation, it's actually the quality of service. Eirini and Christos are gracious hosts and their staff are all, without exception, excellent. When we encountered a medical problem that needed addressing they were concerned and helpful and throughout our stay everyone who works here was personable, efficient and friendly. All in all, I can't wait for the opportunity to revisit.Guest review byJonathanAustralia
- From US$64.31 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 109 reviewsIrene was very helpful and friendly. She was waiting for us to hang over the keys and we were able to check-in even before the time it said on booking. She gave us a lot of useful tips. The room had a nice comfy terrace where Irene greeted us with coffee until we were ready to explore the island. Location is excellent, far from the touristic areas and still in a walkable distance to Skala city center (main city of Patmos). Air conditioning was working perfectly and super silentGuest review byFabio CarrilloSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 16 reviewsStaying at Porto Scoutari is one of the big reasons we loved Patmos. Elina and Kiki made our stay wonderful. Elina is a very gracious, helpful and caring host. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was immaculately clean and beautifully presented. The sunrise and sunset from our balcony were highlights. We left Patmos with heavy hearts, however, wonderful memories of a wonderful host and beautiful hotel. Thank you Elina! Andrew and EleitsaGuest review byAndrewAustralia
- From US$60.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 405 reviewsThe owner and his wife were very kind and generous. He told us how to get around the island and gave good tips for restaurants etc. The property has lots of flowering trees and is surrounded by vegetable- and fruit-growing areas and chickens. You have a view up to the monastery and Chora, and it's very close to the port. We were able to use the hotel as a base waiting for the evening ferry.Guest review byJosephineSweden

The staff who welcomed me on arrival were excellent and gave me a tour of the facilities. The room itself was so quiet and beautiful. There was so much space, the bed was comfy and the private pool was perfect to cool down in the heat. Breakfast was delicious and I will definitely return to this luxury hotel.Guest review byMintaAustralia

Patmos mid-September still has plenty of visitors but isn't packed. It feels laid back and relaxed. There are some lovely beaches - our favourites included Kampos, Livadi and Psili Amos (which takes a hike to get to - wear good shoes). There is a great variety between the beaches being sand, pebble, stones. You definitely need to budget for hiring a car or scooter to get about - though there are taxis too. There's plenty to visit in terms of monasteries, windmills, traditional ship yard, plus driving to some of the more out of the way places is interesting. It's easy and worthwhile to get a ferry to Lipsos or one of the other nearby islands for a day trip. We stayed for 10 days and it felt just right.Guest review byAntonyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Skala has a lovely central area with restaurants and shops, and is pleasant to wander around. It is convenient so close to the ferry port. It was easy to hire a car and there were large public parking areas. You need one if you wish to visit beaches. Psili Ammos in the south is worth the half hour hike in for its fabulous sandy beach with a good taverna. But there were no beaches within walking distance of Skala. St John’s monastery is certainly worth the visit. We jumped on a ferry to Lipsi island for a great day trip.Guest review byJanAustralia - 10.0

Grikos is a pretty sea-front village with five tavernas, one organised beach and two unorganised beaches. It's perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The port of Skala, the main town, is 3 kilometres away, and buses costing two euros run regularly throughout the day and into the early evening. There's also a car and scooter hire establishment for those who prefer their own transport. There is no grocery-store in Grikos, but Skala is close enough to not make this too much of an inconvenience.Guest review byLoraineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It is a quiet bay, there is an excellent beach with life-guard, two tavernas and two bar-restaurants immediately at the beach. All the people we met there are polite and sincerely cordial. May our Lord bless all of them.Guest review byДимка ГочеваBulgaria - 8.0
Patmos is a beautiful and busy place.
Patmos is a beautiful and busy place. The town of Skala is great for shopping and walking. There are lovely beaches around the island, which can be reached by boat or car, but they are well worth the effort. A visit to the monastery and the town of Chora, with its many restaurants, shops, and great views, is also a must. Overall, it is a gorgeous island, but be prepared for some cold seawater.Guest review byMaria MercedesUnited States - 8.0

There is a good selection of nice tavernas in Skala Town; there is one fine hotel close to the sea and the Bay which (unfortunately) was fully booked while I was there - unlike my chosen hotel which had about a 3% occupancy!!Guest review byDavidIreland - 10.0
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible.
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible. We visited the beautiful village of Chora, the monastery of St John, the windmills, and the spiritual cave of the Apocolypse, where John wrote the book of Revelation in the Bible. All was achieved in one day by taxi from Skala. The entire trip was from the island of Kos by ferry, with a 2 night stay in Skala. Well worth it. Wonderful !! Two beautiful islands in one holiday !!Guest review byLovePrince&TravelUnited Kingdom
