As breakfast, lunch and dinner costs around 27 euro/person for each of them, we only ate 1 dinner just to see what is like, but I don't think that the food varies much the next day. The food was good, but not exceptional. Hopefully you can drink tap water for free - you are not obliged to pay for drinks for 4 people... Beach at the back of the hotel with transats, stoney beach but when you enter into the sea, the temperature is great and the floor is sandy but in between you have sliding rocks...To enter to jacuzzis, hammam and sauna, fitness room, there is no additional costs except for the massage. Thoroughly enjoyed Nafplio - the scenery, the food, the interesting little boutiques. Epidaurus was magical, pity we didn't have enough time to visit Mycenae. Will most definitely return there. Although we managed to visit some of the out of the way beaches and also Tolo, we feel there's still a lot to explore. One outstanding feature was the people, who were so hospitable and friendly. Kalamata is a wonderful, modern greek city.
Kalamata is a wonderful, modern greek city. It has a decent population, nice long beach friendly for pedestrians and cyclists. There are also other beaches and seanic spots within an hour of Kalamata. There are ancient historic cites nearby, such as the nearby ancient city of Messene. The city blends a traditional feel in its Old Town, which climbs a castle hill, with modern infrastructure, and hosts cultural events like the annual Dance Festival. From here, you can use a bus to reach Kiato, Corinth and Athens very cheaply. It is a beautiful town with nice monuments and ancient traditions. Pleasant city, active nightlife, many shops and excellent cuisine. From the Gulf of Patra you enter the Peloponnese. Go when not so crowded or hot. We did well at end of September. I highly recommend if you have a car to do a free Olive Oil tour & tasting at OILYPIAN Koufolias Olive Oil Mill about 15 min away from town. I also loved OLYBEEA for family run local honey which you may sample before you buy! Have a meal up the hill (you can walk but best with car) at The Garden :) You will dine under olive trees & get a great view. Loutraki is a nice place for relaxation and pampering. You could swim at Loutraki beach. Be aware that the beach has big pebbles. It is more comfortable to have water shoes with you. Gythio was phenomenal, a true gem of the Peloponnese! Everything you need, from high end restaurants to wonderful shops. Very tourist friendly town. Amazing views of the sea from every angle! Saga Fish Restaurant in Gythio is an absolute must for seafood. We were a five minute drive from Gythio. We stayed at Thirides Beach Resort. I love Korinthos. For maybe idiosyncratic reasons. It is close to Athens, so if you fly in and rent a car for a long drive; this is a close stopover rest city for a couple of days if you don't want the chaos of driving into Athens from the airport with jetlag. I always do Athens on the way out, and Korinthos is always my first night. The nightlife is local and late-night. The beaches are local and easy, laid-back. I rented a scooter.
I rented a scooter. Near the Orloff there is a very good bakery to buy a Tyropita to bring to the beaches in case one still wants a snack after the incredibly good breakfast. One of the most beautiful beaches is Agia Paraskevi. Other people go by bicycle or Elettric Bicycle, some walk, some jog. There are incredible places to discover.
