From the very first moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed and cared for – almost as if we were visiting family rather than staying at a hotel. Sophia, our host, is truly one of the warmest, kindest, and most attentive people we have ever met. Her genuine kindness and outstanding hospitality made our stay unforgettable – she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Breakfast was a real highlight every morning: so much variety, freshly baked goods, plenty of options for everyone, and even lactose-free and gluten-free products specially prepared for my wife. On the day of our excursion, Sophia thoughtfully arranged breakfast boxes for us to take with us, which made us feel so cared for. The hotel restaurant deserves a special mention as well. The food was simply wonderful – traditional Greek cuisine and also seafood, rich flavors, and authentic recipes. We tried food all over the island, but always found ourselves happily returning to the hotel’s restaurant, because it truly stood out for both quality and taste. Our room was spotless every day – quite impressive given how much sand you naturally bring in from the beach. Speaking of the beach, right in front of the hotel we always had comfortable sunbeds waiting for us, which made our days by the sea even more relaxing. What makes this place truly unique is the family-run atmosphere. You can feel the love, warmth, and pride in every detail. Everyone treats you as if you are part of their family, and this genuine connection is something you simply cannot find in larger, commercial hotels. When it was time to leave, it honestly felt like saying goodbye to family members rather than just checking out of a hotel. We left with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and a desire to return. If you are looking for a place where you will be welcomed with open arms, enjoy authentic Greek hospitality, delicious food, spotless comfort, and a true “home away from home” feeling – this is it.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the 5 Hermopolis Concept in Ermoupoli and we must say that it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment we arrived until the day of our departure, Christos, the hotel owner, created an atmosphere that exceeded our expectations with professionalism and warmth. The hotel owner's attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our stay. The room itself was immaculate, full of comfort that made us feel right at home. Every detail in this renovated ancient building, demonstrated the owner's commitment to providing a personalized experience. Throughout our stay, the owner's dedication to ensuring guest satisfaction was remarkable. He was always available, ready to assist with all sort of requests. He made our stay memorable. His expertise in hospitality was evident in his knowledge of the local area, as he provided valuable recommendations for sightseeing, dining, and entertainment. It was clear that the owner genuinely cared about his guests' experiences and was committed to making our stay truly special. The hotel location is amazing, with a beautiful view, in a quiet area but very close to the city center and the port. In conclusion, our stay was a truly unforgettable experience. Professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for the guests created an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that sets this hotel apart. Last but not least, Christos during our farewell, offered a candle to one of us as a gift for the birthday. This was totally unexpected and really touched our heart, we were speechless. I couldn’t check in until 11pm, but the hotel had set up everything I needed when I finally got there 3hrs late. I then had to check out early at 7am before reception opened, and was worried because I hadn’t communicated this to the staff, but the wonderful Marie was there to arrange everything when I went downstairs. Marie also let me have some of the cake from the breakfast (which she made herself which was DELICIOUS). Brazzera Hotel has incredible hospitality, room was spacious, clean and perfect for a night, and breakfast looked great. Location only 10 min walk from port as well, and 15 min taxi from the main port Ermoupoli.

Helpful, polite English speaking stuff. Superb location just across the street from Galissas beach. The price is a little bit premium compared to other accommodations in the area, but it is deserved for great service and good breakfast options. The hotel has its own restaurant with huge plate sizes, a nice swimming pool, and private parking. There is no loud music at the nearby venues, and the tourist traffic here is comparably lower from the other locations on Syros, nice quiet place.

The Queen of Cyclades

Located in the middle of the Cyclades, the Greek island of Syros is the administrative centre of the region. Having a large Catholic population, this charming island features unique beauty, fertile plains and beautiful beaches.

The capital of Syros and the entire Cyclades, Ermoupolis, is an impressive amphitheatrically built town with old mansions, marble paved streets and lovely hotels. Named after the Greek God of Commerce, Hermes, it has a number of imposing churches, like Agios Nikolaos.

Constructed by Ernst Ziller, the Neoclassical Town Hall of Ermoupolis is one of the most impressive town halls in Greece. You can relax under a palm tree or enjoy a loukoumi (the Greek version of the Turkish delight sweets) in one of the beautiful cafes at Miaoulis Square.     I can’t praise Pino di Loto enough! From the moment we arrived to the second we left we were treated like part of the family! The location is peaceful and beautiful, with the most stunning views. We loved our room, the super-comfortable bed, the poolside area - and it was great to find the pool open off season! Oh, and how could we forget the delicious breakfast of carefully selected local cheeses, preserves, and other delightful treats!     A beautiful area with a strong French influence in the architecture..very different to the other islands we have visited. We loved our swim at Asteria Beach close by after walking close to 500 steps to visit the Venetian style alleys of Ano Syros. Not a sandy beach but a chic swimming experience from a concrete platform.

    Kini is a delightful small town.

    Kini is a delightful small town. We visited in low season and still had the use of three excellent restaurants, one located ON the beach, which was our favorite spot for the holiday. The main joy was swimming with the many shoals of fish, so snorkel and mask are recommended. The old part of the town is extremely scenic, with many small-holdings with goats, donkeys and 5000 cats to make friends with. We were delighted by what Kini had to offer in late October, and it was a perfect low-season base outside Ermopouli. Well serviced by busses, Best to ask a local where they stop because it's not well signposted, but they are regular, prompt and cheap.

    Peaceful friendly location, a shadow of its former self however green shoots for the future evident, the services that remain are perfect for a peaceful get away with a wide shallow sheltered bay that gently merges into the crystal clear blue waters. However for a more sophisticated yet more affordable experience a short walk to Achalida a smaller beach formed around a little harbour where you will find Emily’s Hotel and beach cafe a family run establishment serving great lunches snacks and drinks at reasonable prices with a warm welcome for all including non residents, it is clear why so many people return year after year. At the other end of the beach you will find a higher end restaurant that serves fine dining and a good range of cocktails and local beers.

    Fantastic place to stay and unwind.

    Fantastic place to stay and unwind. The beach is great for swimming, shallow and sandy. Close enough to the central town of Ermoupoli boasting some really fantastic sights and great eating places, a must to visit. Galissas is on my list to stay on my next holiday when I visit Syros Island.

The narrow cobbled streets, the fortress architecture along with a variety of bars and bistros really create a great experience. And the views are just breathtaking!

    Lovely place by the sea with all the comforts.

    Lovely place by the sea with all the comforts. It is a place for families, not for a teen-ager. It is very good for anyone over fifty looking for clean beach, comfort and no hassle. There are three restaurants, two bars, free car park and it is ten minutes drive from Ermoupoli. You can get a bus every hour to go to town.

    If you do not drive then access by bus is spotty, especially in later months of season. Also beware that if you go later in season, the mini market nearby might well be closed. Nearest shop after that is 1.5 miles away, but it is open on Sunday.

    beautiful, clean, mixture of old and new, marble streets and historic merchants houses, plenty of good restuarnts and cafes and nice shopping area with everything you could need on tap. Nice little marble/cobbled streets, on the flat around the harbour and shops and then a bit steeper to get to the theatre and church. Found a fab terrace for a cocktail at posh hotel La Ploues. Totally worth the €15.

    Kini is a small fishing town, only 20 mins by bus or taxi from the main port/city. The bus leaves Kini once an hour, check the schedule at the centre of the strip and cost €2 and is very efficient and safe. Kini itself is set up of approx 7/8 restaurants, 2 shops and a couple nice bars and a very good bakery called vitimin sea. Very chilled and relaxed, not touristy like some of the other beaches and no music etc. Would highly recommend visiting Kini for a more relaxed vibe and has the most incredible sunsets.

    Vari is a nice bay to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather and food. It is small, and I was impressed by the fact that the beach was adapted for the handicapped - so they can enjoy bathing in the sea as well! I ate at the hotel and at nearby restaurants, with the staff being very friendly in both places, and the food very good.
