Booked it and hit the road not really expecting anything but a bed and parking. Instead I found the most awesome hotel that I wished I had more time in. The reception staff were so friendly, I am not sure the name of the woman who checked me in (maybe Tanja?) but she showed me the parking, personally; she showed me the room, she explained all the hotel had to offer. My room was huge and spotlessly clean, after this dingy little place in Split I left it was like stepping into heaven. A comfortable bed, view of the sea, what more can you ask for? I had dinner in the restaurant and was so impressed by my server, I think his name is L:uka. I asked for the lightest red wine they offered, and he brought me the house wine as it is the lightest, instead of trying to upsell me to something more expensive. I watched my server greet every table, if people were returning he always said "welcome back" and was so nice and accommodating to everyone. You could tell people were happy to be returning to eat there. Both my brothers are restaurant managers and I think they would hire this guy in a heartbeat. The food was great too. The best is the food- good variety, tasty food, very kind staff, and we appreciated the drinks included 2. The kids club- so a good space for kids and so kind lady that is taking care of them. Our daughter just loved to spend her time there, and it is important to have your kid entertained. 3. We liked the lobby, live music, and good cocktails. The waiters and barman are professional and kind. The lobby is cozy and has a lovely terrace taken care of and clean. 4. The hotel is pet friendly, which is so great. 5. The first night I was staying in a seaside room but I couldn't see the sea so when I asked to be switched, the gal at front desk wouldn't believe me and kept insisting that I was in seaside room. Finally, she agreed to switch me to a tiny, tiny room but the VIEW WAS INCREDIBLE so even though the room was much smaller, I didn't care because the view was worth it! Loved Split , we spent a week on the islands and finished with 3 days in Split before coming home. Loved walking the old town, be prepared for map reading and the maze of alleyways and quaint streets filled with restaurants and lovely individual shops. Spend an evening in the old palace square having a drink and listening to the musicians. Spent one day on a trip to Krka national park with the beautiful waterfalls and wine tasting in a local village trip. Worth a visit. For me, this is simply the best place in Croatia.
For me, this is simply the best place in Croatia. It's smaller than, for example, Makarska, and lacks noisy clubs and loud nightlife, which I consider strong advantages. You can find everything you need: beautiful beaches, bars, snack stands, and upscale restaurants. We loved the town of Podstrana, the beach areas were easy to access, there were sun loungers and umbrellas for hire if the pebble beach was too much! It was quiet season during our stay and we negotiated a discount on our sunbeds.... The bars were also quiet and some restaurants had closed. We really liked the peace and quiet and were never short of some where to eat or have drinks. The choice of watersports and boat trips was reduced due to end of season but still available on request. Crystal clear water and you can see straight to the bottom even when it’s deep. The water is so clean it’s almost unreal, like swimming in a giant natural pool. If you love pristine beaches and amazing water quality, this place is absolutely worth it. The only downsides are that getting into the water can be a bit tricky since it’s rocky rather than sandy beaches.
