Budapest is a historic city with beautiful architecture and great diversity. There is always an activity to do or a place to visit. The ruin bars (i.e. Szimpla) are a must go to, and sites like Buda Castle, Margrit Island and Fisherman's Bastion are gorgeous. The city situates so many cultures, which means there's a wide range of international foods and people. Be sure to try local Peksegs and cafes, with a quick google search you can find them all around with a variety of pastries, desserts and coffees. Feel free to explore too, there's a few underground hidden gems, however, it's safer to look at reviews online first as some of the places are tourist traps. Also, it's good to know a bit of Hungarian, but most people speak English. It's a lively city, but remember to respect the locals, they are constantly accommodating tourists, so that can be overwhelming. Budapest is easily my favorite town in Europe, and I've been to Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna and Paris. It is a beautiful city with lots of thingfs to see, the old architecture is well preserved and one of my favorite parts of Budapest. The nightlife is also great, mostly focused around a few streets in the most tourist-dense part of the city.
